Is GM Really Improving?

I keep hearing all these things about how they're improving their quality. I keep hearing "GM's not going out of business, GM's getting down to business" and all these other things. After owning a Cavalier and an Alero, I personally am very unlikely to buy another vehicle from them.

Just the other day I was having a discussion with my dad about domestic vs import and my dad gave me this speech about how domestics are improving their quality, and getting better, etc, etc. So the other day we needed to pull a trailer so we got in his brand new 2009 or 2010 (forget which one, either way it's only a month old) GMC 3/4 ton diesel. I get in to close my door and the stupid handle to close the door comes swinging out of place. Then I thought back to last year when he bought a 2008 Chevy Uplander and how the same day it rolled off the lot it had its first warranty claim because the sliding back door wouldn't close. The van has been in and out of the shop so many times it makes me laugh everytime it breaks down. The truck is going for its first claim (the door handle) right away.

What do you guys think? Am I being too critical of GM or are they actually improving?

Like I said before... I'm not sure if I want to be a rider. If I ever do decide to do it, I will be starting small! lol

Re: Is GM Really Improving?

GM is fuckin retarded. Case in point, Buick, why are they making an ENTIRE line of car that only appeal to one age group. And to add insult to injury the age group will be dead well within the next 15 years.....

Re: Is GM Really Improving?

Who buys a GM nowadays anyways? If I have to buy domestic (and that means either canadian or mexican), I'd spring the cash for a Ford. Seems like imports are more domestic than domestic auto companies lol.

Don't buy from Dabears2k.com - They sell counterfeit parts.

Re: Is GM Really Improving?

Ford still builds a quality machine though, at least compared to the rest of the domestic market...

Well, that's not really an indicator of their product lineup. When you mortgage the company away, you seem to have enough leveraged cash to keep the wheels turning.
