Seriously. IRS sends a nice big fat "We lost some of your 2006 tax return info, so you owe use $3,000"
I respond back with all the missing schedule D info. Today letter comes in the mail from the IRS "Thanks for the $12 you acknowledged you owed us. Guess what, you still owe us $2,988, cause we lost/didn't read any of your schedule D information. Again. Please send it to us".
Wife calls them (since she got the letter and I am at work), IRS person on the phone "Well, only include the pertinent information, highlighted and with stickies"
Oh, my bad I did everything except the stickies. I guess the IRS manual states "Only read information denoted by a sticky, shred everything else". That or it was the double sided photocopying. Must be real hard flipping those pages. Or possibly they got confused when they read the cover letter thinking there wasn't anything else in the envelope.
Seriously, this is ridiculous. I really just want to get audited so I can get a person with a room temperature IQ to read the damn forms.
PS Yeah, they STILL don't have the stock cost basis information; because they STILL refuse to read my damn Schedule D.
