170mph

August 1, 2009 2:44 AM

DALTON, Ga. (AP) The Georgia State Patrol says a Cobb County man was tossed in jail after being clocked at 170 mph on his motorcycle during a police chase.

Officers said 37-year-old Jermaine Strickland of Powder Springs apparently did not stop for officers in Gordon County. An officer then chased Strickland through Whitfield County and into Catoosa County before Strickland stopped.

Officers said he reached 170 mph at one point during the chase.

Police charged Strickland with multiple traffic violations. He was being held Friday afternoon in the Whitfield County jail.

Re: 170mph

it's a bike. not that hard to get to retarded speeds on most of todays bikes. hyabusa has as much HP or more than our cars, and only weighs like 500lbs... do the math.

I forget where it was but I remember reading a story of someone on a hyabusa getting a ticket for 215mph.

Re: 170mph

I had a GSXR-1100 with a "Mr. Turbo" turbo kit on it. I'm in the 200mph club. At the SALT FLATS....not on the fucking interstate. Dude's an idiot. Especially if he got caught...lol GA has lots of twisty roads to lose a cop on. Unless they were using a whirlybird to follow him. However, 170 would give a Blackhawk a run for the money.

to bad modern police radar is only legit for up to like 120, because the tuning forks used to verify accuracy test 20 mph (correct me if im wrong about the speeds) and 120 mph

IIRC, the case he's referring to was a case of air enforcement (timing marks).
