As far as details, I've been saving up for a cross country drive for years. Yesterday, my buddy was half joking that we should drive to California since we have the time off. Then one thing led to another and it turned into a serious plan. The trip is purely for fun and I would like to go every place that people have suggested, but the gas budget tops out at around 7,000 miles.
The plan is to start in NC and take interstate 40 west, travel through CA, visit Yellowstone and Mt. Rushmore and then head back to WV.
Some of the things I'm looking forward to the most are the Grand Canyon, driving the pacific coast highway and Yellowstone park. I have friends or family in NC, NM, AZ and CA, so it shouldn't be to bad a drive.
