Re: Windows Vista Help

No, actually they didn't.  I rename files just about every single day.

What happens when you try it? Do you have an admin level account?

Re: Windows Vista Help

im not trying to rename a file im trying to change what type it is.  Back in the windows 98 days the file extension was part of it names so if i wanted to change a jpeg to say an avi all i had to do was change the name. EX: from halo.jpeg to halo.avi

Re: Windows Vista Help

Ahh, I know what your problem is.  The file extension is still part of the name, but you just can't see it because that is the default setting.  Open up an explorer window and go to tools->folder options.  Find the checkbox that says "display full file names" or display file extension or whatever, and check it.
