most respected auto company

ok, i've decided to steal this from motortrend.com

what are your three most respected car companies? it could be for any reason. but please explain your choices

mine:

1) BMW - the 3 series as been bad ass since it's inception. it is THE benchmark. they've managed to walk the fine line that is sport/comfort better than anyone else.

2) Porsche - cuz they can squeeze out 435 naturally aspirated horses out of 3.8 liters. nuff said

3) i may have to cheat here. it's either VW or Mazda. i don't think either company makes a single dud right now. how can you not respect a company that does everything well? it's a tie for me.

anyone else?

Re: most respected auto company

BMW and VW suck, ever hear of a thing called reliability??? Subaru FTW, extremely reliable, safe, well priced, only down side is they are a little bland..

And any BMW 3 series less then the 328, sucks performance wise too. 325 is slower then a Mz3 2.3, and what do they retail at?

Sorry I just don't like German cars, don't take it as an attack on yourself.

Bland they are. But you can Never go wrong with a Subaru.

VW is one of the worst ones out there. BMW, I have no comment as I don't them really well.

Re: most respected auto company

Subaru doesn't hold a candle to Toyota in terms of being reliable/safe/well priced but most importantly bland

Company that should deserve the most respect is without a question Porsche.

1. Despite being sold almost solely as a niche product that only appeals to a small market percentage, they did it so well that they were able to buy back into giant VW and consequently everything else they own like Audi and Lambo.

2. Most profitable car company in the world.

3. With exception to the Cayenne and upcoming Panamera they are perhaps one of the most focused companies overall.

4. Incredibly rare for sports cars or sport luxury vehicles they are actually some of the most reliable cars in the world today period. And also maintain their value incredibly well, even when cars like AMG plummet in value the second they are driven off the lot.

5. Incredibly innovative despite a general lack of involvement in motorsports. Originators of the first twin clutch manual which ironically although developed for street use is now the gold standard transmission even in top tier racing like Formula 1.

Yeah, how'd that work out for them?

What seemed like a genius move turned out to be moronic. Sometimes hostile takeover bids should be a little better thought out

Re: most respected auto company

Toyota is a reliable car, but i think Subaru has them there, I worked for auto sales parts company's most my life, and I would maybe see 1 Subaru a month, vs the daily Honda Toyota cars. Literally one Subaru a month and it would be for a battery, maybe some plugs. 3 years working for auto parts sales and never scanned (OBDII) one Subaru, I'd do 1 Honda an hour on the weekends. Ford too, but 99% of the time they had a check engine light it was related too the EGR system.

Most respected? Toyota along with their sub-brands. Most impressive, Audi and Lamborghini and Porsche.

Don't buy from Dabears2k.com - They sell counterfeit parts.

Good thing Toyota owns Subaru now. All new Subarus are going bland...especially the Legacy/Outback.

My 3 would probably be the companies I grew up with...

Ford (including Mazda), Mercedes-Benz (although this one was tarnished during the DC era), and Volvo. I'm starting to appreciate Nissans as they're similiar to Mazda in many respects but with a much more broad offering of vehicles and have already been down the road of despair.

Thanks.

Only car brand I won't ever buy again is Nissan. God, some of their recent (past 10 years) models have been rolling piles of dog shit. Fun to drive, even decent looking but examples of how not to run quality control.
