well, my girlfriend called me from work telling me she was off and I could head to her house. when I get there, the first thing I notice is that her dad's red cherokee is missing. when I pull up closer I see me gf with tears running down her face. I get out and she tells me her mom and dad are getting a divorce. after trying to comfort her for a few minutes, she explains that her mom caught him red handed cheating. well, trying to cheat. her mom has always been suspicious of him.
As I walked up to the back door, I see blood everywhere. its on the concrete, on the brick steps, the wall and even on the glass panes on their back door. when her mom found out about it, she hit him in the face at least 15 times. her knuckle is swollen and probably broken.
well, what really got her mom suspicious was that he took my gf's little brother and sister to see fireworks at a nearby lake. Some people her dad works with has a lake house there and they all met up there for the 4th of July. The odd thing is, her dad (whom we'll call "Greg" from now on) despises fireworks and can't stand some of the people he works with. So then why would he so willingly want to take the kids to the fireworks?
My gf's mom couldn't go however, bc she is a nurse and was on call that night.
I thought nothing of it. I was on her dads side. I thought she was giving him an awful hard time for "being a good father" and taking his kids to see some fireworks. Shows how much I know the man. I've known him for 5 years and thought he was strange, but a good person at heart. I thought wrong.
well, her mom was making Greg sleep on the floor because she was mad at him for going to the fireworks and leaving her at home like that. and he was doing it. he was literally sleeping on the floor without a fuss. She made the point to me later, "why would an innocent man sleep on the floor when he hasn't done anything."
and heres the final straw... my gf's mom disguised her voice (which she can do very well apparently) and called up his work. He answered and she asked to speak to the girl in question which we'll call Amy for ease of story telling. When Amy got on the phone, my gf's mom told her, "look, I want to know whats going on with you and Greg. Somethings up and I want to know about it." Amy told her to call her on her cell phone and gave her the number.
Well, my gf's mom calls Amy and they meet up in a town close to where Greg and Amy works. they discuss the whole thing. Apparently, Greg is harassing her every day. He keep s telling her to have sex with him. He even got in her face and said, "You are gonna have sex with me." Amy told him no every time. The thing is, she is scared. She has two young children and is going through a divorce of her own.
Theres more to the story, but I can't recall everything right this moment. The points are, its plainly obvious that he has been sexually harassing his coworker, and cheating on my gf's mom.
anyhow, my gf is very upset and somewhat numb. shes most upset that her little brother and sister are gonna have to grow up without their father and she just doesn't think she'll ever look at him the same again.
I really don't know what to do.
Her mom gave Greg the checkbook and told him to get out. She was gonna get a lawyer Monday and that they were gonna split the bank account right down the middle. Things however are gonn be very complicated now. Like whos gonna get the house? Whos gonna have custody of the kids and when? etc etc. Its really overwhelming and I feel horrible for both my gf and her mother. Her little 8 year old brother pretty much was there for the whole dispute, but hes taking it better than anybody. tough little guy.
I guess the best thing I can do is be there for my gf and for her little brother and sister. They've always been a little annoying just like you would thing your gf's younger siblings would be. but I guess I need to grow up and be something of a man in their lives. not necessarily a father figure, you know what i mean. It does make me thankful for my own parents.
well, i guess thats enough ranting for now. I hope what I've written actually makes some grammatical sense such that its readable.
