What a wonderful 4th

Last weekend my wife and son got conjunctivitus and a cold. Come Wednesday I get a cold, probably the worst one I have ever had in my life (I got it much worse then they had it). All Wednesday I have a fever (101-102), Thursday I am feeling a little better, get in to work for a couple of hours in the morning and then we drive to the in-laws at the beach for 4 days. Friday I am feeling not so bad, head to the beach, have some fun. Saturday feeling pretty crappy again, but hit the beach. Sunday, horrible, fever is back horrible sinus pain and pressure, can't sleep at all (couldn't saturday night either). Monday dead tired, I mean hallucinatory tired basically (2 nights running with 0 sleep and poor sleep the 3 nights before that).

I finally manage to fall asleep monday afternoon and got some decent sleep last night.

Talk about a wonderful vacation.

PS that cold turned in to a nasty sinus infection that I am still fighting off. Thank goodness for Amoxicillian (I get that most sinus infections aren't bacterial, but I did start feeling better the morning after I started taking Amoxicillian).

Anyone else have any vacation sickness horror stories?

Re: What a wonderful 4th

When I was in Bolivia at a restaurant, I suddenly got altitude sickness and had to RUN to the woman's room and puked all over everywhere in there.

On the 4th of July I had a cold too. I still do, and it absolutely sucks. I hate cough medicine, specifically dextromethorphan, and so I'm stuck here with flem out the ass. Sorry to hear about your experience though bro.

Re: What a wonderful 4th

Not sure exactly what it is in nyquil, possibly/probably the Doxylamine succinate, but that stuff just makes me feel strung out. Not tired really, just dizzy/disconnected. Not enjoyable, but I guess better then simply feeling sick. I got some Sunday to help me sleep at night, Sunday night no sleep despite the nyquil, but I was a lot more comfortably laying there trying to sleep. Kind of dizzy for about 2hrs after waking up (err, getting up really) (I took a 2nd dose around 3am, so it 'lasted' until around 9am or so).
