Looking for CX7 Owners

I posted this on FFC but I figured some Mazda 3 guy/girls will have more input. I'm looking to get my wife a 2009 Mazda CX7 Grand touring. Anyone own one? Good or bad things to say? If you have a grand touring what did you pay? I don't want AWD...it's worthless in NJ. Thanks in advance for the help. MODS PLEASE don't move this..I'd really like input from the ENTIRE community and not just the Fusion or Mazda 3 forum. Thanks in advance..

Several M3 owners also own CX7's (SmokinAMD and a couple others I can't remember). They'll be along shortly.

Re: Looking for CX7 Owners

Im actually thinking about trading my Inifini QX-4 in for a CX-7. The front wheel drive is the only thing stopping me, I love my 4wd option.

Ehh the AWD is a $2000 option. Uses more fuel, brakes more often, hard to get parts for the drive shafts and diffs. It snows once a year and I have an AWD explorer so I'd prefer FWD.

Did you consider checking the mazdausa.com?

I've only rented CX7s from Hertz. Nice ride, handles well for it's size and higher center of gravity. Not much turbo lag but only time I got on it was when I was passing on the interstate, where a turbo is more beneficial (I'm used to terrible lag from the Volvo, also a 2.3l I4). I'm sure it would do just fine in light snow with a good set of all-season tires. Basically, it's a big Mazda3 wagon.

For the price and fuel economy, I'll probably leave my Ford roots and check out a Nissan Xterra. Rented them for field work from Hertz as well. It would actually be a great vehicle for Idaho, in terms of outdoor activities, lack of paved roads, and lots of snow. 4WD is just a little more appealing to me than AWD...you can be proactive on having all 4 wheels being driven. Plus, it's probably easier to clean after a week of camping. Doubt that is what you're looking for though.

If you don't want a turbo, the 2010 CX-7 will be available with the NA 2.5l and FWD. Probably won't do any better around town but may sip less fuel on the highway.

My buddy has an 07 GT AWD. I've taken many trips and road trips in it. Its comfy and right-sized. He's been to the dealer twice for some loose trim, other than that he has had no issues and throughly enjoys it.

I would buy one if I needed that type of vehicle.

Re: Looking for CX7 Owners

I'm looking to move back to Daytona, in a few months as soon a my house sells. So i wont need AWD anymore. I do love the mazda, my uncle just sold his GL-450 for a CX-9 and hes happy. That say A LOT to me.
