What TV & game system should I buy?

I'm looking to buy a new TV sometime this week and was wondering what people recommend. I'm leaning towards a 1080p LCD that is 40+ inches. Is there any brands that I should look for, or stay away from? Also what does Hz mean and do I want a lot or a little of it?

As for the game system, a Wii sounds fun but the graphics look not so great. I already have a Blu Ray player so that takes a bit of the advantage away from the PS3. I used to have an XBox360. Which system has the best games now? which is least likely to break?

Xboxxxxxxxx

and get CoD 4 & 5 and you can join the nightly M3F matches

Hz is the refresh rate, the higher the better. 120+ is a must especially for gaming.

hz is hertz. LG has a 240 hz out and 120 hz was the predecessor. Personally, I wouldn't get a tv that is 120 hz. You can get some quality tv's for around $700. Only get a 40" tv if you are going to put it in a fairly big room, or it will dwarf your room.

I have a PS3 so I have the blu ray and gaming capabilities. The 360 is still popular and the wii is really only fun if you're playing with someone else or a group. The ps3 and 360 can be played by yourself and you will still have fun.

We have an Olevia 42" LCD tv. It has nice quality and was a lot cheaper than the big name brand, but also was a best buy in consumer reports. 3 years old and it still works great.

Get a plasma tv. I've seen some with 600hz+ for pretty darn cheap. Not only that, but black levels will be better than LCD, and they dont really have the burn-in issues that they used to.

+1 on XBOX360.

Does anyone know anything about LED TVs? I was searching on Best Buy and started reading about this one and it sounded pretty good.

I have seen the Samsung LED at best buy, and it is AWESOME. Absolutely no fast action blur. They make a 120Hz and a 240Hz, in 40, 46, and 55 inch. They are both incredibly expensive, but if you can afford the best then go for it. Probably the best TV on the best TV on the market right now.

Those aren't really "LED TV's". They are LCD's with LED backlighting. Marketing FTL.

Anyway,

PLASMA > LCD (LED backlight or otherwise)

I'd like to spend no more than $2000. But if I see a TV that gives me a wowzers in my trousers I'd be willing to spend a little more.
