Just got a new laptop whats 1st??

ok so i finally retired my old sony viao that was 6 years old and got a decent new laptop acer aspire 6930.

what you i do 1st?? i don't want any of the crazy trial stuff on it or stupid anti-virus warnings to keep popping up saying your not protected. I know some ideas can't be posted so please pm me. i am looking for office and photochop and other cool programs

since im a student i can get office professional for about 170!
That includes: Word, powerpoint, access, exel, accounting, outlook,publisher. I can pick it up for you if you want, and just ship it to you.

"downgrade" it to XP.....

Or remove any software Acer installed, or even better just completely re-install windows and use the driver CD to add the stuff you actually NEED.

Personally I have AVG and Malwarebytes for virus protection. I have photoshop too, getting it for free isn't that hard, a quick search in google will give you plenty of ways. Or, if you want to be Legal, you can get GIMP for free. It is essentially a free version of photoshop, doesn't look exactly like it, but doesn't take too long to get used to (I have it as well).

Cleverly disguised as a responsible college student...

yeah my old laptop had avg and malwarebytes they seemed to do good. i never do much online but always seems to get crap from even just facebook and forums.

honestly i would just wipe it clean so you can install whatever you want on it.

That was the first thing I did. Didn't need half the stuff Dell gave me originally. I also partitioned my hard drive and put all my music, movies, and photos on the separate partition so the drive with Windows on it will run faster. Now if only I could code it so that my Media Center button opens up the internet...

First thing I did was personalize it :P

My dad has a Microsoft Office cd, so I was able to download all that stuff for free
