Samsung DLP Issue

Well last week i noticed a bug on the screen of my DLP. i left i go a da or two just thinking it was on the outside of the screen. When i went to wipe it off, much to my surprise, the bug was on the inside of the screen. I have a 4 year extended performance agreement through Circuit City(yes they are out of business but they warranties are still good) i called the number and they set up to have a local tech come out and take a look at the TV.

The tech arrives at the house, armed only with his little clipboard and a battery powered drill with a screw bit. He looks at the TV, and proceeds to tear it apart in my living room. while he is mid way he tells me that he has never taken this model of TV apart before. After we(i had to help him) get the screen off we find that the bug is between the two parts of the screen(they are sealed and not supposed to be take apart unless your in a clean room).

After i help him put the TV back together(he rounded off most of the screws with his drill), i fire the TV up and the bug is gone, picture looks fine.

Later on the in the night when i am playing COD4, I notice the are of the TV where the 2 parts of the screen were taken apart is kinda out of focus.

sorry about the long rant...just wanted to see what you all thought about the professional repair

Re: Samsung DLP Issue

No help here--I probably just would've done it myself. Or, since my Samsung DLP has had a couple of small fingerprints on the inside of the screen for the last 4 years that I've had it, I suppose I just would've let it be for a few years :lmao:

Re: Samsung DLP Issue

My girlfriends brother had this happen to him. He was watching T.V. one night and had a giant ant walk across his Sony DLP. It was only there for a few minutes and has not come back since. Heat from the TV probably killed it.

Re: Samsung DLP Issue

Just wait until your reaction when the bulb burns out a couple years from now... do yourself a favor and pick a spare one up now so you won't be without TV for days waiting for a replacement!

Not only that, but the bulb is about 50-60% of the original purchase price. Sometimes your can get them cheaper.
