I just stopped a robber...kinda shaken

I am mildly worked up and I am in need of some venting.

I am at home in my apartment reading a new book around noon and just chillin before i head off to work. I hear a faint knocking at the door but I wasnt sure if it was someone knocking on another door. So i think nothing of it, and turn the page. Another minute goes by and I hear this rustling going on outside on my deck. Then i heard the distinctive sound of feet landing onto my deck . My first thought is, "those damn repair men", since there are always guys around doing upkeep on my apartment complex. Then I remember that they will never enter an apartment from the back door......oh shit. I quietly jump out of my chair and quickly get my gun. By this time the back sliding door is being wedged open. I finish loading the gun in time to meet a 18-22 black male walking through my curtains. He gets one step inside my place through the curtains and looks up. Deer in Headlights. We both freeze, neither of us really knowing what to do at this point. All I can say is, "You take one more step into my home and I swear to God I will kill you. Get out." The guy turns and bolts out the door and hops the railing and just runs. I call the police and my apartment. Getting a new door/locks/safety bar installed as I write this.

Everyone be safe. These are troubled times and people will become more bold when they get desperate. I hope that the robber gets wise and realizes how close he came to being a dead man today.

Wow, glad things turned out as well as they did. Could have been much worse for both of you. Good job keeping your cool.

Holy shit! Glad you're safe... if you didn't have a gun in hand, who knows what might have happened.

:shock:

Good thing you had a weapon! Glad to hear that it didn't go bad and you're safety was in order.

I've been contemplating getting a gun for this reason. I keep a samurai sord under the bed but I'm not sure if it would carry the same effect. I'd hate to have to use it either way.

Re: I just stopped a robber...kinda shaken

Well, thankfully now you won't have to deal with the legal issues regarding using deadly force and his gangster homeboys won't be driving by your apartment trying to get revenge.

Gun=deterrent first, actual weapon second.

You did the right thing by stating hat you WOULD do if he came any closer. One of the first things they teach in any CCW class.
