Windows Xp help, PLEASE

My fuel tuning laptops been running like crap lately, mostly when loading programs or just booting. It was my home PC for the past 5 years but I picked up a new computer and deleted all the b.s. off of this one, movies, music, photos, unused apps, etc. Now I been trying to run a Disk Defrag, to help get everything in order help it boost a little faster in 90% positive thats a huge part of why its running like crap. I ran a dependable registry cleaner its good there, plenty of memory and so on. But when i go to run the Defrag i get an error.

"Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: (c.
Please run Chkdsk /f

So i when into Dos and ran a check disk on C: and the problem still persists, any ideas?

Re: Windows Xp help, PLEASE

that's to cancel the scheduled chkdsk.
unfortunately, it's also for windows NT.

and i haz no clue how to fix your computer, short of a full wipe. that pretty much fixes everything lol.

Re: Windows Xp help, PLEASE

edit the registry as outlined in the KB, it's the same in Windows XP as Windows NT. once the chkdsk is removed from the schedule you should be able to run a standard defrag from the start menu (start> programs> accessories> system tools> defrag)

Re: Windows Xp help, PLEASE

I had a problem like that before, and it was actually a bad hard drive. Western Digital had some software on their site that can help you determine weather it is bad or not. I copied mine and replaced it before it completely crashed.
