Koni or Bilstein shocks but they are over $600... worth every penny to upgrade shocks.

Just give that thing a drop first thing. You can get lowering springs if you dot want to spend a lot on coils

It would help to know what your overall goals for the car are before suggesting any first mods. For example, what do you like most: appearance / sound / performance, etc... do you ever plan on doing any type of racing (autocross, track days) or entering into car shows... all this info would help people give better recommendations.

Tint, MS3 exhaust and sway bars. Or get a couple hundred more and do springs & shocks.

Re: Ive got $600 and a stock mz3 hatch

Im not really going to be racing or doing any car shows, i would just like my car to look different than all the other stock mazdas around here if that makes any sense.

I was thinking about mild modifications, nothing to extreme or costly, maybe an exhaust or wheels perhaps.

A drop would be very nice, but i'm basically a car n00b, so they may be a bit out of my league.

Also would you suggest a MS3 exhaust or something like the magnaflow catback?

i'd go ms3 exhaust unless you come across a great deal on an aftermarket one. i planned on putting an ms3 exhaust until i came across my magnaflow on craigslist.

the thing that makes the most difference to the appearance imo is rims. tint is a close second. and pull off your moldings if you haven't yet.
