My Beautiful Car!

Well okay so I'm a bit late posting this. But on Tuesday night I decided to catch a movie with some friends. I was driving through the parking lot and noticed a Civic in front of me. I didn't think much of it, given that I see many civics on the road. So we were going the same direction and I follow it. The civic turns off to the left (empty parking spot) to go park. I watch, and the civic is indeed in the parking spot. So I continue my journey through the parking lot to find myself a spot. As I'm driving past the civic I see it's reverse lights come on. I figure yeah, maybe she needs to straighten out, she won't back in to me.

Then I see the car start to move, and accelerate, very very quickly. So I honked my horn, and then once I realized she wasn't going to stop I realized she was probably going to go straight through my drivers side door. So I hammer on the gas to get out of the way. She continues to back up. Anyways she plows straight in to my car. My front drivers side door is dented up, my rear drivers side door is crushed like a tin can, my side skirt is dangling there, there is a big dent in the rear panel that holds the door latch, and a bunch of scratch marks.

I've got some pics, I'll post them after work. I figured I'd take 2 days to calm down, but I'm still angry. I'm not sure if there's any damage to the B-Pillar on my car, but I'll find out today when I take it to insurance. They may end up just writing off the car, I'm not sure.

The part that throws more gasoline on the fire is the piece of junk courtesy car they gave me. It is almost the worst car I've ever driven in my life. My car is still in my garage right now, the loaner car is sitting parked on the road somewhere, and I'm riding my sports bike since it's more comfortable to ride than the courtesy car.

Well, first thing I did is get out of the car, make sure she's okay, then once I realized she was okay I began telling her how wreckless she was being.

Her excuse is that driving around in parking lots with little or no parking stresses her out, and she was late for a movie and she backed up without thinking. When I asked her why she didn't stop when I continued to honk she said she couldn't hear me because her music was turned up.

I explained to her, that in a parking lot, you don't put your car in reverse and floor it. There could have been a kid there (it was cheap night at the theatre and this particular theatre is about 8 blocks from a high school)... I also mentioned there's other vehicles driving, and then I told her that I was debating between riding my bike and driving my car that night. I decided to drive the car when I saw there was a 60% chance of rain in the late evening. Had I been on my bike, I'd be dead right now, simply because driving in a busy parking lot stresses her out.

I had to fight every urge in my body to not hit her. I'm a peaceful man, and I'm firmly against violence. Had she not co-operated and taken full responsibility of the situation right there and then I probably would have lost it and done something I wouldn't be proud of.

I got her information, her insurance is paying all of it. As for the rental car, I just got off the phone with the rental place and they have agreed to give me another car. So so long Focus, hello Versa.

Re: My Beautiful Car!

And a Versa is better? lol

Anyway, I'm glad everything is ok though. I woulda been just as pissed as you. If someone feels they can't drive calmly in a parking lot, then they need to either hitch a ride with someone else, or let someone drive their car. Do you hope to get your car written off, or no? Good luck with everything. Glad her insurance is paying for it!

Re: My Beautiful Car!

lol well when I got there they had a mazda 3 that had just come in... so I was given the option of a dirty Mazda 3 or a clean versa, so I took the mazda 3, which I don't mind driving even though it's not a manual.

I was hoping they'd total off my car since I have total loss coverage, which means they'd give me $28,000 for mine... but instead they decided to fix it. So I gotta find a shop. At least her insurance is paying it all.

LOL unfortunately she wasn't hot... well she wasn't bad either... she had a cute face. She was definitely older than me though.
