Health Effects Of.....

....Living with a power pole on or around your property.

So my boyfriend just purchased a house (YAY!!) out here in the desert area of North Phoenix. The ONLY problem we both have with the house is that there is this huge steel power pole in the backyard lol. Sorta looks like this:

(just a random image)

I just wanna know if there are any myths or REAL truths about any health effects from living with one of these. We've heard that they don't effect adults, but children (and only maybe 1 in 20,000 households). Also, he searched and found that scientists proved the power poles don't cause luekemia, but do have a part to play in the illness (if that makes sense).

Lemme know what you've all heard, if you've heard anything at all :P Thanks!

Haha yeah true. I asked my dad, and he said the same people (scientists) who say you can get cancer from the power poles are the same people supporting global warming haha! I myself am not worried about it. We're just worried about the resale value further along down the road. Which is why he got it for such a ridiculously low price!

That's the kicker. Whether or not they do any harm is of little consequence. The perception that they do or might will hammer you when you go to sell. We found a really nice house that was against the right of way for a transmission line (like the one pictured above). Our realtor cautioned that it had been on the market for 6 months and he had shown it to several others who wouldn't buy because of it.

Just be aware that it will degrade the value of the home and likely make it sit on the market a few weeks or months longer than average.

It'll impact the resale value. I don't really know of any scientists who claim that it will cause health problems...where is just about anyone with a doctorate in anything mildly related to an environmental science supports the fact of human influenced/induced global warming.

Minimum it is unsightly, myth wise leukemia.

http://www.greenfacts.org/en/power-lines/

Some resonably good reading. Conclusion, some evidence of causing childhood leukemia, but the studies were not bias free (potentially) nor the results statistically signficant enough to be conclusive (well, conclusion were raised, but the bottom line is they shouldn't be). So really...a possibility, maybe, but unlikely. Cell phones subject you to higher energy EM radiation with a greater absorbancy rate in tissues then the low frequency EM fields around power lines.

Of course if you have an ELF radio setup...well it'll play havoc with trying to talk to your hidden nuclear submarine fleet. Better find another place to live if you want to be emperor of the world.

Meh, microwave ovens are pretty well shielded, so long as you don't remove the door. The screening/mesh in the door forms part of the faraday cage sorrounding the microwave. Basically it reflects the microwaves back in to the enclosure preventing any microwaves from exiting.

There are so many cancer cases right now can anyone say it ISN'T from microwaves or power lines? I'd bet the power lines aren't healthy however..there is so much shit out there now getting everyone sick..it doesn't matter anymore. You can't drink the water in half of NJ towns anymore.
