Probably won't buy a car HERE....

Went to a dealer because my fiance wants an RX8, and we've seen one or two here before. They don't have any, but this young sales guy says, hey, nice ride (My MS3) and asks what my quarter time is. I said I don't know, haven't tracked it yet. He said, oh, I've got a 90-somethin Integra, boosted, it does 1/4 in 11.6.

And he said he's doing an engine swap later this year, he'd show me the car but it's at home.

Seriously?

Front wheel drive Integra, 11.6 1/4 mile? If he could really get that front wheel drive Integra to 11.6, why even have to do an engine swap?

Shenanigans?

Re: Probably won't buy a car HERE....

it would be possible with the right setup. cage, completely setup motor....big arse turbo, slicks, etc etc... list goes on.

I could make a pinto a 11 sec car...but if he says its all motor i call bs.

He might be swapping the head out for a jdm head or swapping alltogether with a build engine to handle the boost.

If it sounded like he was BSing though...he probably was...lol.

...is waiting for the next episode of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood....

Re: Probably won't buy a car HERE....

what happens is a few people build fast integras and now every joe blow with a turbo integra thinks he can run a mid-11. I met a guy claiming he had a turbo integra running 22 lb's but yet didn't ever have it dyno tested....pray-tell how does juan TUNE a car like that without getting some dyno numbers?

Re: Probably won't buy a car HERE....

My old Integra ran 11 seconds in the 1/8 mile.

I'd go back again and look for another salesperson...if they asked if you'd been previously helped, be sure to say no. That kid doesn't deserve a cut of the comission (if there is any), I had a similiar punk the first time I went to the Mazda dealer (ironically, to look at a 2005 Civic Si hatchback) before driving a new 3.

Its possible, you got some street civics doing 11 and 10's in the 1/4 mile. Integra engines and Civic engines are pretty much the same thing. Boost a honda k engine with a proper build will probably get you in the 12s or 11's.

Ironically, I've found that car salesmen know less about cars than those in ANY other profession.

Got that right! When I was car shopping I was debating on this one car, but it was an automatic. I told the guy no way. He said "Automatics are easier to maintain, it's cheaper, you'll get so used to it, and the resale value is much higher...blahblahblah" and I never went back. If I tell you I want a stick shift and I've been driving them all my life (I'm 38) chances are you're not gonna be able to convince me to buy an auto

Re: Probably won't buy a car HERE....

When I bought my 3 the kid who was trying to sell to us (my dad was with me) was a complete shithead, didn't really know much about the car and was a cocky jerk the entire time.  So I started calling up other dealerships around NY state to see what they had available and wound up talking to this girl at a dealership in Buffalo.  She was amazing and within 2 days the car was mine, plus it worked out great because we were going to Michigan that weekend and had to stop in Buffalo to pick up my brother and sister anyway. Every person that I talked to since I got my car I told to go to her if they didn't mind the drive. Unfortunately she no longer works there.

Oh and the girl was absolutely gorgeous, like on a scale of 1-10 she was easily a 15.

Re: Probably won't buy a car HERE....

No one said it wasn't possible...it's probably unlikely the kid he was dealing with has done so.
