Blackberry Storm vs HTC Touch Pro for Verizon? Any other phones for VZW?

I'm interested in purchasing a new phone for Verizon Wireless and wanted to get opinions out there. I know the HTC Touch Pro is amazing from what my friends experiences are and reviews for ATT and Sprint but heard they cut back on the memory for VZW and its not as good...and the Blackberry Storm's click screen feature may not be the most efficient for texting. I need something that I can sync my GMAIL too and will give constantly check for updates in my gmail, I need a full web browser, and a qwerty keyboard. WiFi isn't a must since I pay for an unlimited data plan or I guess everything has bluetooth now so that isn't a big must either. I don't care for Windows Mobile. I currently have a HTC VX6800 and before this had a Samsung SCH-i760 and hate them both to hell. It doesn't' have to be touch screen or anything either. Also do any of these have a lock or know about an app for any of these phones on locking personal things on the phone like text messages and emails. I hate it when people dig through my phone, esp my younger sister. Thaanks.

^ The HTC Touch is Windows Mobile which you said you don't care for so...

I have the Storm and love it, you get used to the clicking screen pretty quickly (at least I did) and it ends up feeling really good.

The other IT consultant I work with has the HTC Touch and loves the phone but says Windows Mobile drives him up the wall especially with the stylus (man I hate that stupid thing!) If your touchscreen phone needs a stylus you've failed at making a touchscreen! /rant

My advice is to try them out, I played with the HTC that my co-worker mentioned above has and I can tell you Windows Mobile runs ssssslllllllooooooowwwwww and lllllllaaaaaaaaggggggggggyyyyy I couldn't imagine using that thing everyday honestly. I'm running .75 on my Storm and it's like comparing a Ferrari to a Civic speed wise and the leaked OS's for the Storm forget about it!

Try them both and see what you think, I think you'll be happy with the Storm head over to Crackberry.com for any answers to any questions you may have about the Storm and apps for it too!

Personally, I'd wait until the bold/curve/niagara makes its way over there.

However, the HTC would be a lot easier to have the software reloaded so that you may access all of the phones' original features.

Edit: Also, from what I understand, Verizon still has the "buy 1 blackberry, get another of equal or lesser value free after mail in rebate". That's 2 storms for the price of 1. I do believe you have to get data on it though.

I am your little i friend.

I don't care for WM but if the phone has it I can live w it...meh.. Im pretty sure I'm gonna be trying out the HTC next week .. someone is selling one Im picking up next week for $150 which is a DAMN good price so if I don't like it I can easily resell it. Still looking for that good deal on a Storm... I liked the iphone app on the storm that was cool since its the full screen phone too it works better than it does on smaller screen phones.. any other suggestions?

Well IMO Windows Mobile isn't the best operating system for a touchscreen, for a smartphone yes, for a touchscreen smartphone no so take that as you will

Once you go Blackberry though it's hard to go back...I can't see myself owning anything else from now on

I forgot the biggest concern of mine... CALL QUALITY... what's the most honest opinion you can give on call quality .. like I need it to be reaaal good. Where when I put the call level on high .. it's high where I wouldn't need to put it on high to hear and I can leave it on a medium.

Not an issue with the Storm all my calls are crystal clear whether it's through the earpiece or Bluetooth earpiece.

As for the speaker, there's a warning in the manual that holding it too close too your ears can cause hearing damage so yeah

Re: Blackberry Storm vs HTC Touch Pro for Verizon? Any other phones for VZW?

my fiance has the storm and its kinda buggy. i pretty much hate it.

i'm going to be jumping from sprint to vzn and getting a curve. In consumer reports (whatever that means), the Curve was the top selling/performing phone beating out iPhone followed by storm.

I want the BB Tour also...but rumor going around is that it wont come out until july or august and I dont want to wait...and it will most likely be $200.

I have a treo now.... :x

are you not considering the curve at all?
