NASCAR in trouble....?

http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar...p;lid=tab4pos1

this brings up an interesting prospect. what if manufacturers were to pull out of the "sport", and teams were left to fend for themselves to find rides? which cars would be the most likely to be represented? assuming that the only modifications they would be allowed would be safety related, so that the engines had to remain stock, which mass produced cars would make up a new world nascar field?

true. but i can't ever find it on the tele. i'm assuming nascar would continue to be televised, which would give me the chance to watch real cars battle it out. it has to be better than the crap they pass off as racing these days. "oh, let's just drive around in circles and hope that nobody runs into me!!" what a waste of fuel

Re: NASCAR in trouble....?

NASCAR isn't in trouble... It's happened in the past and it always rebounds.

Manufacturer support was down after 9/11 and it carried on through nearly the end of the 2004 season. IMHO, the only difference you'll see is more field fillers making the race or slightly smaller line ups in some of the other NASCAR Series.

Re: NASCAR in trouble....?

NASCAR is pretty dull i find the most part anyways. I find f1 and harder tracks more enjoyable.

ok, yeah. i hate nascar as well. live rear axles, 4 forward gears, carbs? really? did automotive engineering just stop after 1967? it's boring as hell. the only problem is that it's shoved down our throats on espn like we actually give a damn. wouldn't it be great if changes were made to the "sport" so that it would at least be worth our time to pay attention when it shows up on sports center? here's hoping
