Re: " Stop Sign Dilemmas " [Poll]

I go by who came to a complete stop first. If they did I let them go every time. If I did I have the right of way so I just go.

Since you are in California...

Yield to the car which arrives first or to the car on your right if it reaches the intersection at the same time as you do.

If they're not paying attention when I decide to be nice and wave them on, I gun it, letting them know I'm annoyed at their stupidity

Well if they don't bother to look both ways, and are relying on you to know it's safe, that's still dumb of them to go. They still have to look lol!

Re: " Stop Sign Dilemmas " [Poll]

The law in California states that when multiple cars arrive at the same time, you yield to the car on your right. I think this is also the general rule in most other states, and I follow it everywhere I drive.

Of course, this does not explain what to do in the case where you come to a stop at the same time as a car opposite you, and one of you wants to turn left. I usually gun it in this case so they see that I'm going first, before they even start to think about doing anything. But always be cautious and ready to stop or maneuver safely around them in case they decide to do the same thing.

Re: " Stop Sign Dilemmas " [Poll]

Most states go by the 'car to the right has right of way'. I go by that. With cars opposite if they look even modestly decisive I just let them go through first. If they look like they are going to have problems with the 'crap or get off the pot' decision I'll just gun it and go.
