Re: Ford could be selling Mazda shares

At this rate, Mazda might end up buying more than just their own shares of stock from Ford. Rumors already abound about Toyota buying GM.

GM is in merger/acquisition talks with Cerberus over Chrysler. Of course, GM would have to find a source of capital, which could include sources such as Toyota. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Re: Ford could be selling Mazda shares

Doesn't mazda actually turn a profit? I'm sure mazda's value will only increase with the recent release of the new 6 (which is awesome according to reviews) and the imminent release of the new 3. Why would ford sell :S

Re: Ford could be selling Mazda shares

Can I as why Ford bought Mazda in the first place? Was Mazda not making good enough cars on its own or what? I feel conflicted about this. I feel Ford is a company that provides good technical background and Mazda provides the style. If they break away from each other, I wonder how Mazda will fair on its own.

Re: Ford could be selling Mazda shares

Oh hallelujah!! Mazda could go very far without Ford's corporate advice, heads and meddling. Mazda has a knack for either hiring ingenius and inspired engineers and designers, or really making them happy enough to be passionate about their jobs. Thats what I've always loved about the company!

Regardless I feel Mazda will continue to work with Ford no matter how many stocks they well. At least for these next generation of cars Mazda and Ford are two combined.

But it would be nice to see Mazda own more of itself again.

Re: Ford could be selling Mazda shares

Keep in mind that the two companies are closely related. They had two brand engineered cars and share a couple assembly plants as well.
