If the world could vote....

Interesting website:

http://www.iftheworldcouldvote.com

November 4th 2008 the American people will choose a new president. The president of the United States of America is the most powerful person in the world.

We would like to know who would be the next president of the United States of America - if the world could vote!

In the presidential election in 2004 122,267,553 people voted. 6,500,000,000 people did not.

Our mission is to get more people to vote than voted in the last election. Mission impossible, we know, but still, wouldn't it be great to see what the whole world thinks?

One interesting note; the results for the United States. Either Obama is going to win big, or among Internet users, Democrats vastly outnumber Republicans.

Re: If the world could vote....

Interesting...especially considering that of the many countries that do vote, often vote for the conservative candidate!

Re: If the world could vote....

A lot of people put too much emphasis on what the rest of the world wants. I don't give a flying F--- what the rest of the world thinks. They're only concerned about what is best for their country. I will vote for what is in the best interest of OUR country, not the worlds.

Re: If the world could vote....

It's interesting, but unfortunately it's skewed in the opposite direction from phone polling. Phone polling results don't take into account that there are a large number of young--and therefore probably Obama supporters--people who only have cell phones and are therefore not polled. By the same token, this poll draws its sampling from a population of computer owners, meaning that the result is going to be skewed in the opposite direction. More of the votes are going to be coming from younger voters (not to mention people who are not yet of legal voting age). I mean, just look at the results from the US--as much as many of us would like to see Obama winning 80%-20%, realistically we know the race is going to be much closer than that.

But that's what voters thought they were doing in the last 2 elections and look what happened. Another Vietnam and the biggest economic collapse since the great depresion. That's a fantastic legacy W has left.
