Motorola Adventure? Other verizon suggestions?

Looks like it's finally time to upgrade my cell phone.. the battery on my StarTAC is only good for a day of standby + a half hour of talk or so at this point. No, I'm not joking- some of you have seen it, and I've had it since 2001.
I need a durable phone for the verizon network.. Looks like my options are the G'zOne Boulder by casio and the motorola Adventure- leaning towards the latter. the "boulder" seems to get poor reviews for audio quality. I drop my phone some, and have resisted "upgrading" because I don't want a new phone that will break in a matter of days. The StarTac made it down several flights of stairs etc.
I'm not a big texter, but I'll probably get the unlimited IN + however many other texts for $10 a month addon, since my friends usually manage to rack up a $6 bill in individual fees anyway.
Point being, I don't think I need a qwerty keyboard.
This phone seems to get fair reviews, but I'm open to other suggestions that are given in the next day or so.. going to be going to the Verizon store as early as Monday night since my Mom is on the same plan as me, and her third phone is shutting off at random intervals.
Comments, suggestions, etc?

I've always been a big fan of Samsung phones. My a670 lasted me a good 4 years (and was still working perfectly when i upgraded) and now I have the Gleam. It's really nice, I would recommend checking it out.

My Brother went through about 6 phones in under two years before he got his G'zone. The G'zone (first version) has lasted him almost 2 years and is still going strong.

If you want durability and don't care about all the frills, the G'zone is the way to go.

The g'zone seems to get poor reviews for sound quality- was his version waterproof & does he have any issues with that?

I believe it's water "resistant". He hasn't complained about sound quality, but he's not to fussy about the phone as long as he can make and receive calls.

I had one of those as well, damned good phone...brick though. Favorite feature was the cradle and LED flashlight, hated the antenna though.
I sold it on Craigslist for $75 and bought a little Samsung because I wanted bluetooth and didn't really need a rugged phone.

I really like Samsung phones, they seem to be excellent for Verizon. However, I've heard less rave reviews regarding Samsung with GSM carriers...but the phone selection is greater. Samsung just introduced a "rugged" phone for ATT.

I've read that newer Motorolas are not as good as old ones. I loved and miss my StarTac...after my v60 I was done with Motorola.

Casio specializes in the rugged phones, I would tend to favor them if I was getting another.
