Thinking of a car-related gift for my woman...

My girlfriend's b-day is coming up and I figured just before the winter months I was going to get her a car-starter (possible alarm as well) because she mentioned last winter she really wanted one. I know it's not the most romantic of gifts but sometime practical gifts go a long way, right? Anyways, she drives a Chevy Cobalt SS (I think it's a 2006). I read somewhere a long time ago that it is difficult to bypass the car's stock wiring to have a starter installed. I haven't shopped around yet so I was looking for your opinions on how much I'm looking at in terms of material and install. ANY help is appreciated

Ugh, passlock. Your best bet is paying someone to install it. Saves you time, and a huge headache.

A revolution gets its name by always coming back around in your face.

passlocks are a pain in the ass, i would recommend having a professional do it or try www.the12volt.com and search for the instructions under the wiring diagram page

Cheap and practical!! LOL

I think the remote start would be nice. Is your girl really into her car? Or the car scene?

If not maybe stay away from car parts....may end up with a disappointment.

She's totally NOT into cars lol... I asked her if she had a turbo the other day for fun and she said "i think so!"... She basically has the SS because her dad made her buy it (it's more of his love-child than hers)... That's the reason I want to get her the starter rather than anything else she won't even recognize

Apparently you've never seen a MTL winter...

Warm car every day between November and March is a hell of a gift. Especially when you wake up to something like this.

That's what my car looks like after an hour of shoveling it out... most of us who are hard-pressed for time in the morning will try to drive out of that and hope the wind blows the rest off
