Star Trek Fans Post Here!

So I looked and couldn't find any Star Trek threads...only random Star Trek sayings.

I am a Star Trek fan, have seen every episode of Star Trek, Star Trek: The Next Generation. Star Trek: Deep Space 9, and Star Trek: Voyager. The other two series I am slowly working through. I am partway into season 1 of Enterprise and will start TAS right afterwards.

My favorite is Voyager hands down! I love the flipped theme of a crew trying to get home, and even though I usually hate Time Travel I think it was awesomely done in the series. My favorite episode is Year of Hell.

SO what is your favorite Star Trek show and why? Any Favorite episodes?

And who's looking forward to the new Movie?

There has to be some fans out there...

Re: Star Trek Fans Post Here!

Never able to get into the whole Star Trek thing... I had a friend way back in the day that was pretty hardcore into it though. Ive always been a Star Wars person if I had to pick between the 2.

I am gonna say the Next Generation is definitely the best. I thought DS9 was kinda ghey, it was more like a big soap opera, Voyager is pretty good f0 sh0, once you get into it. The original series is still pretty awesome too, its great that Captain Kirk gets into a fist fight with someone every show, its so bad ass

DS9 followed by TNG. Ds9 just had better character development, and I liked that it had story arcs spanning multiple episodes rather than just a bunch of standalones.

TNG is my favorite. I love how in every episode the solution was the pull something out of your ass and bounce it off the main deflector dish.

Re: Star Trek Fans Post Here!

To each their own, but "Voyager" was the absolute worst of the series IMO. It was a good premise repeatedly trashed by bad writing. How many times can they come up with a way to get home, then cop-out out if it? (Going Warp 10 turns you into a lizard? WTF?) How close to destruction will the USS Voyager get this time, only to look showroom-new in the next episode? How many times did they really have to recycle the Borg? How many shuttlecraft will they lose this week?

"Enterprise" started off strong (season 1), then got lame (season 2), then was one big "WTF" (season 3). It got good again in season 4, but it was too late to save the series. The series premier was awesome, as was the "Dark Mirror" 2-parter.

DS9 got off to a slow start but quickly became the best of them: best characters, best episodes, best story arcs, and the best Federation ship ever, the USS Defiant. Too many good episodes to remember... all the Dominion War ones, and on the lighter side, "Trials and Tribble-ations" and "Take Me Out to the Holosuite" stand out.

I'll always love TNG best, but I'm biased since I grew up with that. I like the same episodes as everyone else... "Best of Both Worlds," "Yesterday's Enterprise," "Parallels" off the top of my head.

TOS has to be respected for what it is (the ORIGINAL) and when it was (the 60s). I'm morbidly curious to see J.J. Abrams' reimagining...

Parallels was just awesome... the alter Riker in the Borg-overrun universe gives me chills every time

My favorite part about TNG is when they go:
"OOH A hole in space! How delightful! Lets Poke it with a stick Mr. Worf."

Re: Star Trek Fans Post Here!

I am a TNG fan myself. Their season was definitely not their strongest, but it was great when the cast finally got into their groove. Picard was always a good captain.

Janeway was definitely not my fave.

I wanted to see Enterprise do well but I could never really get into it. Tripp actually has a character

DS9 was pretty good. A friend had me watch the episodes on DVD, so I actually got to keep track of things and understand it all.

As for TOS..it was good for the era, but some of it didn't stand the test of time.
