Anyone here using Vista ?

I still have a dell running XP. I'm fairly happy with it but its not as fast as I would want. So my next computer will probably be a Dell Quad core2 I saw one on sale for about $550.00

My question is for the people that are using Vista can you still burn DVD movies and what not on Vista? I heard that vista isn't compatible with most of the dvd ripper and decoder

Re: Anyone here using Vista ?

Vista is a huge disappointment. The interface is great looking, but can be a pain. It is as if Vista was designed for the computer illiterate.

Besides, you need to get an extremely fast computer in order to run Vista quickly. I have a two year old Dell with XP and I have half the ram of my mothers laptop who's laptop is brand new and she has Vista and it is ridiculously slow.

Vista = Fail

+1^
The higher/ more upgraded windows you get the more memory and such you need to operate that windows smoothly. It's more of an opposite, if you were to put windows 98 on a computer that came with xp it'd be quick as shit because there wouldn't be much resources being used. If they give you an option to get xp then get xp, i personally hate vista with a passion.

Re: Anyone here using Vista ?

Girlfriend has it on her laptop which i'm using right now. I kinda am starting to hate it. It's slow and really shitty to get around in. XP was and still is much more simple than Vista. I'd stick with Xp if you decide to upgrade your pc.

Re: Anyone here using Vista ?

I have a fast enough computer, and Vista is much better than XP. I can't stand XP, it actually runs slower than Vista on my computer.

Most of the time when people are complaining about it being slow have a processor and/or not enough ram to be up to the task.

2gb is like minimum, and you really need something dual core.

Re: Anyone here using Vista ?

I'm running Vista with a 1.6 GHz Pentium Dual Core (not Core 2 Duo which is superior), and just 1GB of memory. It works absolutely perfect for me. It might slow down a second or two sometimes when opening folders with lots of files or pictures, but other than that its great.

Im running vista, and have no problems with it. But my dad has the same computer as me, and his run slow as balls. I probably have more programs installed on mine too.

Re: Anyone here using Vista ?

i find vista is not so great for a laptop, unless you have a more recent one with atleast 2 gigs of ram, and a core 2 duo going for +2.0 ghz. I have vista on this desktop, and it runs fine. I like some of the smaller stuff in it, like clicking on a folder in the address bar to go there.

You can take XP from me when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
