Car accident (Updated with the list of parts that need to be changed)

on my way to college i got into an accident today. I'm pretty frustrated specially since i'm jobless and had/have a job interview on friday and have no way of getting there. I was going about 50-55 the posted limit was 45mph. At an intersection i saw this guy about to make a left but he stopped in the middle of the intersection since he saw me comming....i don't know why. The guy behind him got really really frustrated or impatient and made the u turn behind the car that was blocking the intersection. I didn't know where to go since there were cars all around me so i swereved from the middle lane into the left where the car was attempting to make a u-turn i slammed the brakes and i hit the median since i needed to find a way not to hit the cars so it was either them and me or the median. I hit the median and my left rear tire blew out and from there the whole car slid and jumped another curb and i missed a light pole. There was a lake/pond where i was sliding towards and i yanked the hand brake to not have my car drown in there. The side airbags deployed, my power steering is fucked. My left side under the car is fucked and both of my rims are fucked. My rims! fucking 300 a piece went down the drain. AND the seat covers i had on ripped since the airbag deployed. I was surprised that the rims didn't crack or break though. The rim just looked like someone put it under a truck and ran over it. The 2 cars that i avoided fled the scene and pealed out of there.....so much for giving a shit about others huh.

Re: Car accident

Sucks that they all left. This is also a reminder that even if you legally have the right of way, you need to slow down (not specifically you, everyone) when something like this is developing. From riding the bike I automatically slow down and look at every car at intersections, make sure I know what they're doing. If they're going to do something dumb I'd rather not fucking be there when they do it.

Re: Car accident

Kinda to bad you didn't get the license plate numbers. They weren't actually hit, but one could deffinitely lump that one under leaving the scene of an accident. I'd contact your insurance company if you haven't yet and I would also contact the police if you haven't (I would have immediately). You'll want a police report on it. The longer you go on any of that the liklier it is your insurance company is going to tell you to screw yourself when it comes time to evaluate your rates since they'll assume it was your fault since it was a single vehicle accident.

Hopefully you have rental coverage on your insurance policy. Try calling a cab for that interview or find a friend who can drive you. All that fails call and explain you just got in to a car accident and you have to reschedule the interview.

+1 Kodos, I do the samething all the time because I have seen to many idiots do things like what 08mazda2.0 had happen to him with idiots pulling through intersections without looking or stopping in them.

Re: Car accident

Ouch. Side airbags going off = totaled.

Definitely call the police, they'll have access to any cameras that overlook the intersection.

Re: Car accident

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that

Did you ever get those sideskirts, by the way? Seller says they can get my paint code, but it'll take a couple of days. Long as there are no fitment issues I'm probably going to go ahead and just do it.

now that you mention that when mine went off my car was totaled as well...

That's a good idea, but more likely they won't have them there due to insufficient tax dollars/inactivity of dangerous drivers in that area. Sorry to hear about the car, I really liked your 2.0 more than anyone elses (hellokitty's or aznkid's are cool too)
