Re: Any baseball card collectors here?

Man, i used to be a crazy collector. I still have about 20,000+ cards atleast at my parents house. They are mainly all crap, as I sold most of my good cards back in '95. Basically I quit buying cards once upper deck came out in '89. Thank god I did, b/c now there's just too many brands, etc. I do, however, still have one box with some goodies. Like a '64 and '66 Mickey Mantle, '68 Mays, '57 Banks, '66 Rose to name a few. Probably have about 100 old goodies like that. Then, I have tons of 80's rookies. Clemens, Gwynn, Boggs, Mattingly, Ripken, Rickey Henderson, Maddux, Bonds..lol. I should of sold them all in '95 b/c they're not worth shit now. Hey babyface, I see your in GA, if your interested in what I have let me know.

Re: Any baseball card collectors here?

I used to collect cards for seasons '91-'96. For a few years I also started to collect specifically Hank Aaron cards. Have about 25 of those, ranging from '57 to '76

Total collection is worth probably 2-3 grand.

I have a ton, but stopped collecting about 10 years ago. I have a lot of memorabilia as well. Most valuable card is a Reggie Jackson rookie card. Prized memorabilia is a signed Cal Ripken ball made up for the 2130-2131 games.

When I was around 11-12 y.o. I had books and books and books of baseball/basketball cards...thousands and thousands of them..I still have quite a bit of them still. That hobby died fast when I got my first car..lol.

Selling my Mazdaspeed3.

Re: Any baseball card collectors here?

I didn't know upper deck was the reason for cards going down in value. I don't understand the reasoning, because a baseball card is just that a card. It should only be able to lose value if corners are bent or the card has really bad creases. I have some cards that are currently about 22 years old. My main collection comes from the early 90's, because I was around 7-10 when I collected cards a lot. I haven't bought a box of cards, since I was 13 or 14, so basically it's been about 10 years. I want to see what they are worth one of these days. I have a lot of upper deck basketball cards from 93-94. Have a decent amount of donruss baseball cards from 1988. Have some fleers from the mid 80's as well. I liked upper deck as a child, because they were the flashy cards and weren't dull and boring like fleer and score were. Also have the entire set of dream team basketball cards, and the score "edition for baseball" in 1992. I will take some pics tonight and put them up; I just have to go to my house and pick up the binders.

LMFAO "oh i thought i didn't need that" i bet in your head you were like "go kick your mom in the ass for me when you get home " 08mazda2.0

Re: Any baseball card collectors here?

Actually, the death of baseball cards started when Donruss and Fleer joined the game in '81. Basically from '52 to '80, if you bought a pack of cards, it was one thing....Topps. Topps put out limited amounts of cards until Donruss was more popular in '84. It became about gloss and crazy designs. Since then, just way too many cards from every manufacturer were produced. Upper Deck just made it worse. This is on top of all the crap steriod players from that era. Then, the whole PSA grading thing ruined it even more. I hated to see it turn out like it did, b/c baseball card collecting has become a thing of the past now. Atleast I caught the end of it, and have some good ol' classic Topps cards to give to my kids one day.

Thats like me I got in on the end of it. The best vard that I knowingly have is a card that has a piecs og Griffey Jr's bat on it. The day I found it in my pack that I bought the Bekket magzine had it valued at $250.00 Of course this was before the trade to cincy and all the injurys. Just imagine the numbers he could have had if he only could have stayed healthy. I also believe that he is one of the few that has been steroid free.
