FORD ranger ranked #1 ?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,398264,00.html

Its seems the ranger is the most fuel efficent MPG small pickup

You could be a redneck if you were just married and you have nothing but empty Skoal cans strung from your bumper as you leave the church.

I'm a Ford guy, so I like the Ranger by default, but they need to redesign that thing like whoa. It seems like Ford just forgot that they make it or something.

I think Ford execs have a bet on how long the Ranger can go without a redesign.

Makes sense to me. The competition has gotten HUGE. The tacoma used to be small, now nearly as large as a F-150. The Ranger is really the only compact truck available in the US.

Ford's redesigning the Ranger for 10. It's current platform is from the early 80's based off a platform from the 70's. It's LONG overdue for a change.

The Ranger is one of the best trucks for people who need a small pickup. Its base model is one of the least expensive small pickups you can buy.

While it might need to be revised a bit, I think it's hard to fix something that technically isn't broken. It does what it's supposed to and gets great fuel economy.

Re: FORD ranger ranked #1 ?

I have an 07 XLT Supercab 4 banger auto (5 speed OD at that) sitting outside. The Ranger has had the best fuel economy for years but let me tell you, it ain't that great. I get 23mpg overall and most of my driving is highway. My V6 Fusion gets 24mpg overall and is fast as hell. The Ranger? YAWN. I can fool a few people because it has a 4.10 rear end and will spin the tires easily. It was a cheap ass truck though. Like 16k with the X-plan. Imagine a 2007 model vehicle without power locks and windows? I have one!

Thats because development costs were paid off 10 years ago! And it's still selling. Just like the B Series.

Hopefully they do a good redesign. Keep the bed the same size, just make it a bit more comfortable inside.

My dad has a 1998 B2500 and its nearly identical inside to my 2007. THe biggest thing they need to do is update the inside and do something with the suspension. It rides like more of a truck than a full size. I just about get tossed from my seat when I pull out of my driveway.

They have continued to develop the powertrain, sort of. The 4 banger in 98 was a dual spark plug, 20mpg piece of crap, now its a modern Duratech. The automatic in mine is NICE, Mazda can make a damn fine tranny.
