Re: "bodybuilding thread"

surprised corey hasn't posted like 18 times in here already....

I just recently started doing a little body building, I've gained about 7 pounds this past month or so. I'm finding the hardest part for me is diet. How the hell do I eat enough? I'm thinking I might need to try some weightgain or something like that to help me at this point.

Re: "bodybuilding thread"

Diet is the hardest part about body building.

It's why I don't bother with it and just do it to keep in shape and still look great

Re: "bodybuilding thread"

I eat:

oatmeal with a scoop of protein in the morning

3 eggs around 10:30 am, two with yolks removed (I have high cholesterol, for some reason)

lunch - normally a sandwich with whole grain bread, fresh veggies, lean roast beef and some turkey

Meal replacement bar around 4:00 PM

Dinner - usually whatever I always eat, I don't often eat fatty foods at all

I also down 1 1/2 to 2 scoops of protein after each workout.

I used to only eat two meals a day (Lunch and dinner) so this a HUGE increase in calories for me.

How much do you weigh and how is your metabolism. The way your eating was how I was eating when I was weighed 230 lbs. If you weigh something like 160 you could eat some fattier foods to put on some weight. I wouldn't say eat McDonald's everyday, but eat a lot of steak and potatoes and cut out the cardio to a day a week. Spend the rest of the days just lifting weights and you should start to put on some weight. You're probably eating too many foods that give you energy and don't convert to fat, which is why you're not gaining weight as quick as you would have thought.

Re: "bodybuilding thread"

I'm at 160 now, give or take a pound or two depending on time of day I weigh myself, just up from about 153. My metabolism is kind of hardcore. I cut down on my diet for one week and I lose about 2 pounds or so.

I'm not sure I want all my food converted to fat :P I realize while gaining muscle that I WILL gain fat, I'm perfectly willing to accept this. I've been aiming for high protein foods to help with the rebuilding process since I've been lifting a good bit.

Re: "bodybuilding thread"

Eat red meat and potatoes. That way the meat gets you high protein and fat; the potatoes get you your carbohydrates as well. Also eat some cheese if you like that. I wouldn't eat more than 2 pieces of cheese a day. If you weigh 160 then you're metabolism is really high. Most people who can eat generally what they want and never gain any weight is because their metabolism is high. My metabolism was only high when I was working out; any other time and it was really low. That could explain why I've gained back 30 or so pounds in almost 2 years. Stopped working out and started eating crappy foods. I know what it takes to get back into shape, but the motivation to do so is gone. Probably because at the time I was going to the gym I was single and now I'm not. Also cut down the cardio to one day a week, but 2 days max. I doubt you're gonna get over 200, but I think you could hit 180-185 pretty easily. Muscle weighs more than fat as well.

Re: "bodybuilding thread"

Where are you guys getting your protein from? This whole "scooping" stuff, powder in a can? Some type of supplement?

I have been lifting weights and doing calisthenics and while I am starting to see some nice definition it is nothing major. I know for a fact though I have not been getting the protein that I need simply because I do not eat high protein foods and probably never will.

I am not trying to be the next Hulk, so please do not jam your hardcore regiments or chemicals into my face.

Suggestions?

I mean no hard feelings for what I post on this website. Anything I type/write/post/say on this forum is only that of general debate and discussion. I am not biased toward anyone or anything. I am neutral in everything I do on this website. Only those facts that are presented to me sway my thought process and siding of each discussion topic that I post about.
