Visiting Niagara Falls (Canadian side) Next Month - Need Help!

Evening all...

My wife and I are planning a vacation to Niagara Falls next month to celebrate our 5-year anniversary. We are staying at the Comfort Inn (a block from the Falls) on the Canadian side.

We've purchased a package that includes a ride on the Maid of the Mist, some Butterfly Garden, some tour behind the Falls and one other thing.

So, has anyone been there who can recommend any MUST SEE or MUST DO type of things or THINGS TO AVOID? I'd be quite thankful.

Our trip will be from Thursday, September 25th through Sunday, September 28th.

And yes...we'll be driving the 3 there.

Ripleys Museum. Casino. Falls. Marineland. All I can think of.

We do not gamble, so the casino is out. However, do they have a good restaurant?

We looked at Marineland, but is it $40/person. We are going to relax and would need to devote an entire day to Marineland activities. So, maybe next time.

The Ripley's Museum may be an idea.

Thanks for the response...

Dunno last time I was there I was 12 so a bit too young to hit the Casino.

If you like seafood, check out "The Love Boat" Restaurant. My wife and I loved it when we were there.

I can't wait to go back. I loved being at the falls and I could sit there and watch them for hours...

We only walked 1/2 was across the bridge just to say that we have been to Canada...

Re: Visiting Niagara Falls (Canadian side) Next Month - Need Help!

I grew up in Niagara Falls so ask me any questions you want.

Marineland is more of a family thing, not necessarily a couple thing. Great for kids though.

Are you looking for places that have lunch or a nice dinner, etc? If you are going on a weekend I would suggest walking around as it gets pretty congested downtown with traffic.

As most people suggested the casino and the typical tourist attractions are the main things to check out. The Whirlpool Jetboat Ride is awesome and would definitely recommend it. It's around $50/person but is definitely a great experience. http://www.niagarafallslive.com/jetboat_discount_coupon.htm"]Click here[/URL] for a discount coupon that I found.

Clifton Hill has a lot of fun museums and haunted houses and arcades, etc. Clifton Hill is the main area downtown by the Falls. I'm not sure if this is something that you are looking for but a know you will be walking up/down it at least once during your stay.

There is also Niagara-on-the-Lake (about 20-25 min drive from the falls) which is a REALLY nice town to walk around and there are a lot of really nice places to have dinner. They are kind of upscale though so may cost a little more. This is a great place for an anniversary.

There are also wineries out that way if you are big wine connoisseurs.

I will add more later on if I think of anything.

+1... We made it up there by accident. We just wanted to make it to Lake Ontario... We ate breakfast at this little restaurant that had a view of the lake. I don't remember the name of it but it wasn't very expensive...

Re: Visiting Niagara Falls (Canadian side) Next Month - Need Help!

Since I've posted, I've found a restaurant site for the region.

www.niagarafallsrestaurants.net

They provide reviews too, so kind of nice. Well, the Love Boat restaurant mainly received negative reviews and a bill (for two people) between $60-$100. So, I think we'll pass.

I take it you were on the US side then, Coonie Dog? I hear the Canadian side is much better. We are both BIG on nature and God's wonders - therefore - I'm sure the view is breathtaking. I'm sure I'll take like 500 pictures. *laff*

@cwp_sedan - Good, I found someone from the region. That is what I wanted.

Food-wise, we are looking for a nice dinner either in the Clifton Hill area as that is where our hotel is. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the Whirlpool Jetboat Ride I've seen on the Discovery Channel. Looks neat indeed! May check it out.

Any specific museum you recommend?

Niagara-on-the-Lake sounds interesting. May check it out.

What stinks is, I don't have the software on my GPS for Canada. Anybody want to share with me? I have a Garmin. *heh*
