New project car?

So I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this one. I've been itching to get an easy project car and these are pretty quick and not too complicated. It's a 1976 Toyota Corolla SR5. RWD too! $2500 bucks but maybe I could talk the guy down a few hundred. What do you all think?

You could be a redneck if you were just married and you have nothing but empty Skoal cans strung from your bumper as you leave the church.

Re: New project car?

The Datsun 510 might be easier to find parts for, and the old Z's are plentiful.

Just giving alternatives.

"What were they thinking" yellow is terrific! I like bright colors on older cars... It gives them panache.

Re: New project car?

The car looks decent and I am assuming it is in fair shape but $2500 is far to steep a price.

A quick search of an 88 Corolla SR5 (earliest I could go) with 130,000 miles (which I can assume this car has more than that on the odo) on KBB lists the value at $1,460 (in excellent condition). Seeing as how that car is another 12 years older you can pretty much bet the value is lower.

Fun car to get around in but, in my opinion, this car is worth a grand at best. Unless the current owner shoehorned a Hemi into it....

I agree $1000.00 tops or find something else

Re: New project car?

Thanks for the input everyone. When I go look at the car I'll check out the millage and take some interior shots and see how far I can talk his price down. I think the fact that it is a pretty rare car ups his price a bit.
