Reckless Driving Citation Pa, need help

So last night i was issued a reckless driving citation in PA for $263.00. I need some help with 2 things

one being what am i looking at as far as penalties from what i researched i may be getting 5 points on my license and a possible license suspension... but i am not sure any one know?

also if it is more than a fine (which im assuming) i think im going to take it to court. if its just a fine ill most likely just pay it. but what should i do?

Heres what happened so you can judge whether or not its worth taking to court. I was at an intersection

| Left | Straight| Straight | Right| in the left turning lane (like that) and there was a jeep with some punkass kids pissin me off in the straight lane next to me. So i reved my engine a little bit and when the left arrow turned green i launched it at pretty much full throttle and lit my tires up a bit. 2 seconds later i see lights in my mirror and just pulled over as i obviously knew it was for me. Im not looking for people to comment on how retarded this was i get it. but this is what the ticket said.

"Def did drive in a willful or wanton (illegible) disregard of safety of others"

and then under remarks/subpoena list it says "Def lite up his tires and took off at a high rate of speed at listed location"

so am i lookin at points? and how will this hold up in court?

[/quote] I'm not here to judge, but that is definitely considered wreckless driving. As far as the penalty, I would take it to court, if the LEO doesn't show up, you can get off with just a warning, if he does show up, just make a note that the left turn was the reason why you were "losing traction"...

It's definitely considered wreckless driving, but it's totally up to you if you want to take it to court. The penalty might be reduced, but I wouldn't go in expecting it.

Don't let those punks piss you off though. You may end up being on the internet.

I'd go to court either way. You never know, they may just offer you a bigger fine instead of points.

your lucky he only put down reckless driving if he really wanted to he could have popped you for exhibition of speed (which is a nice way they can get you for going to fast without going over the speed limit)

go to court and see what happens. Rule of thumb is always fight the ticket

Re: Reckless Driving Citation Pa, need help

I had a reckless driving by speed in Virginia in 2005. 86 mph in a 65 zone (though anything over 80 is automatic reckless driving). Court was required, not optional, so you may want to check that out. Depending on your record, you may be able to ask the judge to reduce it to a lesser offense (not sure what that would be) if you agree to take a safe-driving course. Mention that since the incident you have "radically changed your driving habits and never do this sort of thing" (you have, haven't you? ). The judge in my case believed me when I said that--and it was in fact true, I had changed--but unfortunately did not reduce the charge. I was slapped with a mere $105 fine. I didn't lose my license, though, but that reckless driving is on my record for a long while (11 years AFAIK).

Good luck. Don't let the punks get the best of you.

Get a lawyer and see if you can get any of the fine and or points reduced.
It may cost you more now doing that..but in the long run with facing increased insurance rates and possible suspension it may cost less.
