health insurance?

okay heath insurance is starting to piss me off I have United health care through my job and for me and my daughter it cost me $62.00 a week and we have a $6000.00 yearly deductable WTF its got to stop somewhere and I cant switch to a cheaper insurance because my daughter who is only 2 1/2 has epilepsy so no one will take her. how much are you people paying?

You could be a redneck if you were just married and you have nothing but empty Skoal cans strung from your bumper as you leave the church.

Re: health insurance?

$62/week for family coverage with a child that has an expensive, chronic disease? Might seem like a lot, but that's probably considered a bargain by those who know the actual costs.

My employer pays for mine, so I have no idea what it cost. When I've had a job where I had to pay for it, it was usually $200/mo. for just me for a midlevel PPO.

Zero. Zip. Nada. 100% Company-paid Blue Cross. It's a pretty excellent plan too. Sorry

And yeah, for what your daughter has, $62/week sounds like a bargain.

Re: health insurance?

I wish ours was 62 bucks a week.

For my wife and I, we pay about 130 for medical dental and vision. I don't recall what the deductible is though and I think that is a huge part in figuring out the rate.

Re: health insurance?

hold on $62.00 is just for her I had to take myself off. I should have said that for a family plan it is $156 a week. $125 for child and employee

Gotcha. That is a little steep.

Re: health insurance?

I finally got health insurance after being without it since Jan 1st. Through work it would have been $300/month, so I went straight through Blue Cross and now I'm paying $140/month.

Re: health insurance?

The other thing to think about is the coverage that you are getting. There are different levels of coverage and each has its own price point. My wife and I are currently trying to decide whose insurance will be best for us. There is a lot to think about

Yeah, if you're young with no health problems, etc., you're usually better off seeking your own plan than being in a group policy. You end up paying the same rate as the 70 year old guy down the hall with cancer and emphysema. That, my friend, is why I'm against nationalized healthcare. Just one big group policy party!
