Scooters

What does everyone think of them? Anyone own one?

Personally, I use to think they were stupid, ridiculous, etc. About 6 weeks ago I started changing my mind and started seriously looking into them. A week ago, I bought one and haven't looked back since. The damn thing is so much fun. I know its not a real bike, but it's still a blast.

I just wanted to see what everyone else out there thought of them.

We have some here at work ranging from 50cc - 250 cc they're a freakin blast and you can't go wrong with 100mpg. I'm still concidering buying one since my commute is only 15 minutes

Re: Scooters

They are awesome machines. You can't go wrong with one that has 49cc's. No liscence required, just get a label that says "49cc". For about 700-1000 dollars you could be saving hundreds in gas charges.

Re: Scooters

I think just being exposed on a moving vehicle is exhilerating. Thats why people love convertibles, ATV's, motorcycles, jetskis etc.

Re: Scooters

Mine's a 49.9 cc scooter. so far I can get up to around 35-38 on flat ground, but it sticks at around 30 uphills. I'm planning on using it on my commute every now and then but want to ride it a bit more first to get better accustomed to it first.

Re: Scooters

I'd almost rather get one of those tiny cars like they had on Top Gear that one time... would be a blast to drive that around the office, though I'm not sure I'd be able to get it past the metal detectors

But anyway, I think if not for the fact that I can't get to work without A. going on the interstate or B. going through Chelsea, a scooter could actually turn my 1hr commute into 15 minutes like it should be (I live only about 2-3 miles from work)

Re: Scooters

people use them a lot on the island and while they may look fun they are a pain. people cut traffic with them and go nuts.... the laws changed so i have seen less on the street but they are used a lot here.

people here put speakers on them, you name it. i saw this one kid popping a wheelie on one and i thought it was funny. i have seen drag racing with them and people use them as get away vehicles to jack stuff from peoples cars ( in front of my house)

Re: Scooters

I think you can buy a header for certain 49cc scooters that will make them go up to 55 MPH. Thats pretty good speed for 80 mpg!
