X BOX 360 RED RING OF DEATH --UPDATE 8/8/08--

Ok so two days ago I was playing some call of duty when My X BOX took a crap on me, at first I thought that it had just frozen up on me but when I got up to reset it I saw the red ring and right away I knew that it was over. Knowing that my X BOX is out of warranty I knew I had to fork out some $$ to get it fixed. So I started to look all over the net trying to find any method to get it fixed and came up with a couple of different ways. Im sure you have all heard of the towel wrapping method wich i did not try cause to me it sounds like it would do more harm then good in the long run, then I came across a video on you tube that looked like it might work, I followed the instructions step by step and succsessfully fixed my 360. I know the Red ring of death is a big problem with a lot of systems and I figured I pass the info on to yous guys, hopefully it will help at least one of you. If you plan on attempting this make sure You watch all threee videos first so you know what your getting your self into. (part 1-3) You will need some materials as well.

Part 3 of 3

Artic silver thermal compound (radio shack)
Three torx screw drivers in the following sizes: T6, T7 and T12 (radio shack)
One small flat head screw driver or small and thin wedge
small pair of pliers

I took me about 2 hours to get it up and running and Im not the most technical person around make sure you take your time and follow all directions in the videos. Hope this helps

Quick disclaimer-- Try at your own risk I take no responsebility for others stupidity this will work for you if you do it right. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!!

^ That's really surprising. A buddy of mine just had his launch day unit replaced after the RROD.

Re: X BOX 360 RED RING OF DEATH

I had mine covered under warranty when the rings of death occured, only took about 1 week and 1/2 when they said 4 LOL. But the only thing that sucks is the disk tray and about 98% of the time, it won't open unless I push on the tray door or try to eject the disk wether standing upright or parralled to the ground.
