What is there to Do In Texas?

So as the title says I will be visiting Texas in the first week of Aug to visit a friend. I will be in the Dallas/Fort Worth area (Arlington) and was wondering if there was any MUST do / see things.

Ideas Thus Far:

Weinersnitzel (sp) - Have never had and we don't have in Ohio.
Fry's Electronics - Not In Ohio
A Great Steak House - I'm comfortable spending like $50 on myself for this and I mean... its Texas soo like its required.
Whataburger - Not In Ohio
Dick's Last Resort - Maybe
Studio Movie Grill - Awesome!

So what things can I add to my list. I'd like to see some cool sites too if there are any and places to eat cool stores etc.

Downtown where JFK was shot.

You're going to need to spend more on that steak if you go to one of the many VERY nice steak houses here.

Also, try Whataburger. mmmmm

Ball game, Six Flags, One of the many malls within a 10 mile radius?

There's tons to do here, but not a whole lot of unique stuff. At least not right now as I try to think of it. I guess it all depends on what you're in to.

+1 on Whataburger...I've not been in some time, but I recall the burgers being really generous in width!

Re: What is there to Do In Texas?

What part of DFW will you be in? It's a two+ hour drive from one end to the other, so kinda hard to tell ya where to go.

I love DFW, but I will say that it's a great place to live, but not to visit as a tourist. Decent nightlife, affluent, etc. but nothing really unique that you have to check out.

The few things I'd do are:
In Dallas:
Go out in the "uptown" area (McKinney St./north of Woodall Rogers)
Dallas Museum of Art
Galleria

In Ft. Worth:
Sundance Square
Stockyards/Billy Bob's.

Yeah, I don't know much to do in Arlington except for the obvious water parks, Six Flags, Texas Rangers games, etc. I'd head over to Ft. Worth if you're looking for something fun to do. Downtown FW is very nice. Don't bother visiting downtown Dallas, it's still skeezy even now, and there's really nothing to do.

The JFK tour is awfully boring, even for a history person like myself. Get ready for Arlington traffic, though! Gotta love Jerry Jones and shutting half the roads down in the process of building his, err, Arlington's new stadium.

Re: What is there to Do In Texas?

Wienerschnitzel, as in the food or the resteraunt? The food is pretty good from what I have heard.

Give me a good brautwurst with sauerkraut any day. Mmmmmmm, with a nice bavarian Dunkle maybe or a Dooplebock.

Damnit, I know what I am making for dinner this weekend.
