China's demand for cars will be drastically decreasing soon...as the Chinese government is going to cutback it's fuel price subsidies. Right now fuel in China is less than $2/gallon, after the Olympics it will jump quite a bit.
That will greatly affect the consumption of fuel in China.
Ford doesn't need a company to take them over, look what is happening to Chrysler...it is being hung out to dry. The Ford family still has control of Ford unless Kerkorian buys all the other stockholders out. Ford is on the upswing, they just need to become slightly smaller.
GM is doing alot worse than any other automaker right now. And having a government-funded automaker would do worse for this country and the automaker. Look how bad British-Leyland was in the 70s after the government took control. Terrible workmanship, terrible productivity, terrible management, terrible use of funds, terrible products...all at the taxpayers' expense. I'm glad McCain won't bailout GM, or so he says. But I'm sure Obama would...help protect his union votes.
