Forget about low fuel price!

With some 10 million car sold yearly in China (half imports and half homemade), the demand for fuel will only go up so as the price.

Re: Forget about low fuel price!

This is going to be a continuing problem. However, as the greater world grows more prosperous, it presents an invaluable opportunity for Ford and GM to actually regain profitability. Additionally, as other regions gain the ability to be self-sufficient, that reduces the amount that we will need to contribute in the form of debt, debt forgiveness and humanitarian aide.

So, in the end, I believe that we'll be better off in the long run if we have a sane energy policy and don't give into the rising tide of protectionism.

Re: Forget about low fuel price!

Ford needs a company to place a bid to purchase them in the new future. I would seriously hate to see all the employees end up with no retirement and no where to turn. I think GM can make it, but time will only tell on that one. Global countries growing and the financial sector being hung out to dry in the rain is not helping the situation either. I know on the Nasdaq side you have plenty of tech stocks that are getting hurt. For instance Apple is looking very bearish and I feel it's about to make another backslide down the hill. RIMM will take off like a rocket as soon as the Blackberry Bold is released. We'll see this week if Wall Street goes officially into a bear market.

Re: Forget about low fuel price!

China's demand for cars will be drastically decreasing soon...as the Chinese government is going to cutback it's fuel price subsidies. Right now fuel in China is less than $2/gallon, after the Olympics it will jump quite a bit.

That will greatly affect the consumption of fuel in China.

Ford doesn't need a company to take them over, look what is happening to Chrysler...it is being hung out to dry. The Ford family still has control of Ford unless Kerkorian buys all the other stockholders out. Ford is on the upswing, they just need to become slightly smaller.

GM is doing alot worse than any other automaker right now. And having a government-funded automaker would do worse for this country and the automaker. Look how bad British-Leyland was in the 70s after the government took control. Terrible workmanship, terrible productivity, terrible management, terrible use of funds, terrible products...all at the taxpayers' expense. I'm glad McCain won't bailout GM, or so he says. But I'm sure Obama would...help protect his union votes.

Kerkorian will be dead before anything will happen with Ford. The man is 91. I like GM products and I haven't been a fan of Ford since the foxbody mustang in the late 80's.

Re: Forget about low fuel price!

It doesn't matter if you're a fan of GM, Ford, or Hyundai...GM is still further in the shitcan then Ford.
The media is just catching on to this...

He has already bought up quite a bit of stock in the past few months, he is doing more with Ford than he attempted with Chrysler or GM. Tracinda, and his money, will be around long after he is gone.

Re: Forget about low fuel price!

I guess I will crack open GM financial statements this week when I get off from work.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that? You can access that information online as it's a publicly-held company.
