Just waiting for them to regulate OPEC and start setting rules for these oil companies. Did you notice many companies were down lately in the stock, but the oil companies always up?

Hm....OK

Well I heard on the news today that they forcasted future gas prices in 2010 to be around $7.00 a gallon at the current rising oil prices. Truck sales are already crappy so I can't imagine what they'll be by 2010!!!

Count me in for a Prius or a plug-in electric.

In reality, as of now, it takes about 1-2 years to build an oil rig to dig out the oil and have it loaded in barrels, what is taking place is, many are trying to invest in oil rigs either, used or new, to supply the demand of current oil, we have lots of it, it's just taking more time and efforts in getting it. From what I have heard, in 2010, our oil-refinery / mining capabilities will be capable of supplying the demand, the only issue is, will the current demand be the same demand in 2010?? That is something to think about.

Re: If gas went to $6-7 dollars would......................

i read they are considering taxing extremely high on gas guzzling vehicles and giving a tax break to fuel efficient cars to keep the gas at a consistent price instead of all these fluctuations.

When I went to check out the new BMW m3 there was a gas guzzler tax of $3,000 added to the sticker price.....

regardless for the amount of money you spend on getting a hybrid at the prices they sell for now you might as well keep your current car. Your money would still be about the same in the long run. Last I checked (I dont feel like looking right now for online prices) many hybrid cars are $30,000+. If you owe $10,000 or less on your current car it really isnt worth spending $20,000 or more on a hybrid, if anything your losing money more then saving it. And cars like ours are actually holding value because of them being more fuel efficient then most cars.

I saw a 2007 5.7 powerstroke Titan with low miles and perfect condition used at a car lot selling for $15,000.....the same car new with the packages it had added is easily $30,000+. Trucks and SUVs are taking a huge hit and cant even give the cars away it seems....

Demand is always going to grow. Even with prices going higher, the number of new drivers and cars being sold increase every year. It's true that the media exagerates things...but the reality is...we're too dependant on oil.

Re: If gas went to $6-7 dollars would......................

I'm definitely holding on to my car for awhile but it's sad seeing the economy taking such a hit. Chrysler/Jeep now have that $2.99/gallon deal for 3 years but it's for 12,000 miles/yr and only regular 87 octane. I'm pretty sure other manufacturers will try alternative methods to help boost sales.

I know some people have no choice when it comes to car selection. If they have a business (ie contractor etc.) then they need a truck to haul all the equipment, they're the ones getting screwed I guess.

It's weird how we're in this oil crisis and each year we try to make cars more powerful than the previous with no real improvement in economy. GM should have never scrapped those EV1 cars!! Is American hybrid technology that far behind the Japanese???

[/quote] I don't quite understand your statement....My MS3 gets 31MPG on highway driving and it spanks G35's and Mustang GT's with only a Cobb SRI as a modification...Seems like some are on the right track, while others still make the fat sedans with hemis and fat coupes with v8's....
