Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less. Petition (No Discussion Please)

For those of you that feel we should tap our oil recources to free us from buying from abroad, please sign the petition in the link below. I am not starting this thread to discuss energy, nor to discuss anything else. I posted this for the folks here that feel we should do this and save money and allows us to create new fuel solutions. Thank you

We should have done this years ago and the longer we wait, the worse things will get.

I hope you're joking. Regardless, I am not looking for discussion or snide comments just people that want true energy independence.

It was sarcasm.

I don't care where we get our oil from as long as it stops costing us so much over $100 a barrel.

Yikes, I wouldn't go that far with the claim. Domestic production will never make us truly "independent" as far as energy goes. What it might do is remove some of the power that speculators have in raising prices every time our stocks drop 1m more than expected, etc.

I'm all for allowing expanding domestic extraction. I just cringe when people think it's the end all answer.

Also, if you don't want any further discussion, let me know and I can lock this thread for you. Otherwise, discussion's all you're going to get.

The fact is we have enough oil to not HAVE to buy from abroad. We also have natural gas that is untaped that cannot be touched. So be it, you have your opinion but in the time that we have with the OIL we are sitting on, many other options would be available to reduce the consumption by strides. Of course it is not an end all but the fact is simple, if gas can be 45 cents a gallon in Venezuala or in Saudi Arabia then it can be here also, hell I would pay 1 dollar for it to be from here.

Re: Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less. Petition (No Discussion Please)

Gas is cheap in those countries because they are the source of the oil. Their goverment structure allows for the cheap gas (not a free market). While I certainly agree that our prices need to be lowered, you cannot compare U.S. price to those countries.
It will take reduced demand, alternative energy solutions, as well as increased domestic (and worldwide) production to help solve this problem.
