Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. But it rocks absolutely, too.

Re: Cadillac breaks the Nurburging Lap Record with new CTS-V

quoted from the link above
Quote:
NURBURG, Germany — Cadillac's 2009 CTS-V ran a record-setting 7:59.32 lap of the Nürburgring last week, and GM has just released video documenting the production sedan's high-speed run.

Driven to the record time by John Heinricy from GM's Performance Division, Cadillac confirms that the lapping CTS-V has "no performance upgrades at all," and that the CTS-V ran on stock tires, and surprisingly, with a six-speed automatic transmission instead of the six-speed manual.

Cadillac says the sedan was carrying a harness bar and fire suppression unit onboard as a customary safety precaution, and that the added gear "actually adds a little weight to the car compared to production," but does not provide any "stiffness or structure to speak of."

Nice of Edmund to point that out in the article.

Not a bad thing to be the best at...lol. And if the ZR1 can end up beating the Spec-V GTR, then the new GM can really start bragging.

I only watched halfway through but it looked like he did it with no other cars on the track?

not all cars have been tested at the nurburgring free of other vehicles.

Did anyone else hear all the rattles when he hit bumps? Yes, it is a GM.

If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will.

they have computers and cameras in the car...

and im sure if other sedans thought they'd beat it then they'd run a solo run. they'll just save the money/humiliation
