wisdom teeth :(

Ok so heres the deal. when i was about 15 i was at the dentist getting x-rays on my teeth and he said that i wouldnt have to get my wisdom teeth removed until i was at least 19. Well 19 came and went and i had completely forgot about them because I never experienced any pain or anything. Around the time I turned 21, i felt some pain in my lower left gum where the tooth should be but it only lasted a couple of hours and didnt feel anymore pain for about 7 or so months and it was the same thing...only lasted a couple of hours. Keep in mind its the same tooth, none of the others have ever given me any problems. Now Im 22 and almost to 23 and last night out of nowhere, i had some crazy pain and swelling, i could not sleep some of the night and it was horrible. This morning I still feel it but not as bad and i can feel the pain going away slowly but surely. I will probably get them all pulled but is there any advice for those of you who have been there already? I have finals next week so im going to wait till after that. and they arent coming in straight so it will require surgery which ive never had, and am actually truly afraid of .

Re: wisdom teeth :(

yeah... I have all of mine out but one, which I was told was never going to grow in... well it started growing in a couple of years ago & every few months it starts hurting and finally it broke through the skin... I guess as long as it doesn't start messing up my other teeth I'll leave it be.

But the surgery isn't that bad... I was knocked out the whole time and apparently only woke up to throw up in my dad's car Oh and you get to eat nothing but ice cream and popsicles for a couple of days, what could be better...

**not on this forum and not unless its in a for sale thread.

Re: wisdom teeth :(

It's a walk in the park, honestly. Nothing to be worried about. Should be easy for them to remove since they're already through your gums.

Re: wisdom teeth :(

Don't wait too much longer. I did and damaged a neighboring tooth requiring a root canal and a crown. That hurt more than the wisdom teeth removal which wasn't too big a deal. They put you to sleep. You go home sleep it off and eat soup and soft foods for a few days.

Mine were also coming in at an angle pushing my bottom teeth together. 5 years after they were removed, I had a bottom tooth start to slide inwards so I had to get an invisiline.

The invisiline, root canal and crown all cost around $2,500 out of pocket, after insurance. So if I were you I'd get this taken care of after finals.

Good call. The surgery's really not that bad. You get good meds afterwards, too

Re: wisdom teeth :(

I know people who were out for a week, i was at work the next day, just told them i cant lift anything heavy. I had two done a week, the other two the next. I basically had gauze's to soak up blood and hwat not, used ice 10 and 10 off constantly (had no swelling). However i think around 3-4 hours after the first two i had horrible pain, and i was able to finally get asleep to ignore it. So i suggest a couple hours after it, take a tylenol so when the freezing wares off youll be good. It's what i did the second time, and i had slight pain, but nothing i couldnt ignore.

I remember the first time, it was an hour or two after i think, I had dinner. Mash patotes was hard to eat when your mouth is numb.
