LF bible

to all that would reply, please don't cast any flame bait into the thread, regardless if it's in the lounge or not. I'm actually looking for good input.

I'm agnostic, but love religion. I'm looking for an English version of the Old Testament, and a New Testament.

criterias are as such:

1. not a study bible. I don't want someone else's interpretation of the bible, on top of an already interpreted work.

2. decent text size. I don't want a pocket bible with 5pt font. Nor do I want the "display" size bible that's got 18 pt font.

I've been digging around, but the fact that i'm looking for a non-study-bible seems to really screw up the search.

hoping that maybe someone here knows of a version of the bible that'd fit my criteria.

Re: LF bible

N I V - You can find this version at any book store.... seems to be the most "New English" version.

Re: LF bible

The Message and the NIV version are two of the easier versions of the Bible to read. Personally, I prefer the New King James (NKJV), the New American Standard (NASB) or the New Living Translation (NLT). They are the closest to the original work and easiest to read for me.

Check out christianbook.com as they have a HUGE online store - esp. of reference material. Hope this helps.

Re: LF bible

from what i have read the new american standard is one of the most accurate translations

"The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success."
"History is much like an endless waltz. The three beats of war, peace, and revolution continue on forever."

Re: LF bible

very few versions are what i would call "accurate". i wish somebody would raid the vatican for all the books what were left out of the Canon and publish the all the writings, instead of just what they felt like including 1500 years ago (I suspect they left out anything that threatened their power or control).
