Seeking Job in Ford Motor Company..

I know theres alot of people on this forum who work with Ford in some way. I'm 19yrs old and graduated High School last year, and am interested in working with Ford somehow. I dont know where or how to start, does anyone have some serious ideas?

Thanks, Josh..

Education and experience is important, just like any other career. It depends on what you want to do and where you're willing to start. But you can always browse http://www.ford.com/about-ford/careers and see if there are any current job postings that are in your local area and would be a fit for you.

I hope that helps.

Re: Seeking Job in Ford Motor Company..

I work for Ford. I'm just a cashier in the oil change/quick lube dept. But I work with 11 techs (2 of which are advisors), and they are all more than willing to teach me a few things about the cars. I was offered the position of cashier with the opportunity to move up in the future.

So yeah, you should figure out what you wanna do regarding the business, and go from there. Just remember, you gotta start at the bottom. If you wanna be a tech, I'm pretty sure it's required to have some education. Most of the guys I work with are attending Universal Technical Institute (UTI) while working.

Anyway, goo luck with the search. Hope everything works out. Just go from dealership or whatnot and ask around. Give them your resume. There's sure to be something for you

Re: Seeking Job in Ford Motor Company..

Thanks for your response, I should have been more specific. I have great understandings in computers on how to program, build, fix, etc.. But i just need that little slip of paper that gets me certified and i can step foot into Ford or whereever for that matter.. I just dont know if a Community College would surfice for something like this cause i dont have all that money to spend on a University. Or i could get a regular job in Ford dealership or something and get settled in and talk to them about my knowledge and maybe i heard the company would pay for my schooling.

Just Wondering, Josh..

Re: Seeking Job in Ford Motor Company..

Nope, you'll need a college degree of some sort, even if it isn't necessarily in computers.

Certifications don't generally carry you very far, though of course they don't hurt.

Especially if you want to work on designing vehicle computer systems or working in any serious way in Ford or any other major company in their IT systems you need a degree or massive experience. A certification isn't going to get you anywhere without experience, probably won't even get you an entry level help desk or sys admin job.

You could try starting out at a community college and then move up to a 4 year school once you have a couple of years in. Student loans are your friend. Even an associates degree would be better then nothing. In general working at a dealership has nothing or little to do with Ford corporate.
