SUZE ORMAN FTW

anyone read her books?...great FYI's...from anyones stand point, especially the young, her books should be read...or at least one of them...it's amazing how one book can help you out...puts things into perspective and shows you the right paths...so you won't be BK'ing when you're 25...

i recommend NINE STEPS TO FINANCIAL FREEDOM...

Re: SUZE ORMAN FTW

I watch her show sometimes. It's interesting but there's nothing new and earth shattering that she talks about. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure out you shouldn't spend more than you make, you shouldn't buy things on credit cards unless you can pay off the balance in full every month, and save as much as early as you can.

It's ridiculous how people call into her show on the 'Can I afford it' segment and ask things like "I make 45k a year, i have 5k in savings, I have 12k in credit card debt. Can I afford 130 acres of land for a summer home in the mountains worth 42k?"

Its like come on people!!!!

Re: SUZE ORMAN FTW

her show just scrapes the surface, i've watched one for like 10 mins...the book for us gave us direction of where and when to put our money...and different scenarios of outcomes...

yeah about half of the steps are common sense...but saying that, i think our society is lacking on the common sense...

Re: SUZE ORMAN FTW

common sense ftmfw. key word in anything financial related. her and dave ramsey are pretty much the same person. same basic message. i've seen/heard both shows. even read one of his books. it's great information, but nothing earth shattering as mentioned above. i was already doing everything he suggested, it's just that he had catchy titles for everything. for people who really don't know what they should be doing or who weren't tought what to do from their parents (like my wife. her parents are financial retards), either suze's or dave's books should be mandatory reading.

and i am happy to report that as of the end of this month i will be debt free other than my mortgage and future car payment (i'm buying a new car. i don't care. i want one. :P)

Re: SUZE ORMAN FTW

thank ya. i'm still undecided on what to get. i REALLY want an S4. i can get an 05 with 40-50k miles for around $25k, or i can get an 05-06 RX8 with around 25k miles for under $18k. i can pay $800 a month till november when i can start paying at least a grand a month. so the mazda will be paid off around october of 09. where as the audi won't et paid off till some time in 2010 and it will have around twice the miladge with not much warrenty left. but that audi is my dream car. it's perfect. sedan, all wheel drive, V8 power, and better mpg's than the 1.3 mazda. who knew?!? anyway, that's where i'm at
