Is it wrong or totally okay?

I listed something for sale for my RX-7... that doesn't quite fit on my car so I might as well just get rid of it and let someone enjoy it.

I am picky so I didn't wanna have something that doesn't fit perfectly on my car.

So, I posted it up... totally forgot about this guy who PM me about it WAYYYY before, months before I posted the thread up. The problem is that he lives in NY and I didn't want to sell it at the time he PM me, I live in CA... shipping something that's about a size of a bumper is a hassle, right? So, ok, he PM me about the part after I posted the thread, I said he has first dibs. At that time, there's also one person interested in it, then there's one that's LOCAL. I was brainstorming which would work best for me since I am busy with my cars... I try to work on my car as much as I can while I am free, me and my bro adds up 4 cars total. I don't really have the time to have it send out, packaged, etc... you know... all that hassle you need to ship something that big. I closed the thread (we can close our on thread in that forum) that I found a local buyer and I will let you all know if this falls through.

Less than 5 minutes after I closed the thread, a guy PM me and said that's messed up... I explained to him how much hassle it would be to ship something that size, all the way across the country.

I don't know... is this wrong or what?

Re: Is it wrong or totally okay?

ehh... honestly i think its kinda messed up. hey if the guy from NY wants it shoot let him have it. let him know he has to pay for shipping and handling fee's. i mean it cant be that hard. call up ur local post office or fed ex tell them u wanna ship a bumper and see if they got a box big enough to do it. if so then dude they do all the work. they'll put in the box bubble wrap it and put peanuts in there. aint much hastle for you if u ask me. first come first serve dude be a good guy and sell it to the NY man. just my 2 cents

wat goes herE?

Re: Is it wrong or totally okay?

kind of, but only if you somehow indicated earlier that you would sell it to him, if you ever decided to...if you didn't want to ship it, (cause it really doesn't matter if it's oregon or ny, you prolly could have told him long ago that he had no chance.
it's not that much trouble to ship it if you take it someplace that packs and ships, and he's willing to pay.

I kind of did told him he'd be the first in line if I ever have this up for sale.

Re: Is it wrong or totally okay?

this is the first forum i've ever been on where anyone called dibs on buy and sell stuff and that was honoured. If I'm selling something, the first person to get me the money in the most convenient way to me gets it. I don't care who calls dibs. It's my stuff until the money is in my hand, and I'll decide who I sell it to.

I wouldn't feel too bad. You didn't promise the bumper to the NY guy. I'd tell him "sorry, I changed my mind". The local guy is coming to your door so you can't go back and ship it to the NY guy. I'd rather have someone pissed at me from across the country than across town. I'm sure the person in NY will be fine. Maybe you can keep an eye out or another bumper and send him the info if you find one.

Re: Is it wrong or totally okay?

Yeah, I guess.

I just got the PM from the guy in NY... he's totally understanding my situation... kind of a relief to me but I still feel guilty.
