refund from extended warranty when the vehicle is traded in?

anyone have any experiences with this?

When I bought my 2004 Mazda 3 I purchased an extended warranty (up to 75k miles bumper to bumper) and gap insurance with it . Well my car had 65k on the odo when I traded it in on my MS3. My salesguy mentioned that I would get a refund for the remaining extended warranty. Well I forgot about it until I got a letter in the mail from the company the extended warranty was through saying that I may qualify for a refund since my car still had the remaining extended warranty and/or gap insurance.

I plan on calling the dealer I bought my MS3 through and seeing what the deal is about it but I'm just wanting to know if anyone else has done this and how much you got or I can expect to be getting.

Thanks

I had received a full refund of my warranty from my sport trac. Mazda should do the same.

My car wasn't paid off and I financed that stuff in. Would that matter? I guess I would probably get 1/2 of what I paid since I was about halfway paid off with that car?

It isn't based on that, but rather the remaining value of the warranty.

I didn't receive the whole amount back from Mazda. When I traded my mazda6 in for my 3 I had only had my car for a year, and they still took some of the money. It's one reason I will never get an extended warranty again. I was told that if for any reason I sold my car before I "used" the warranty, which didn't start until after 4 yr/50K mile, that I would get a full refund.

[/quote].....They should have explained that the extended warrenty you purchased started on the "in service" date of your car.....in other words the date you purchased your car.....reason is,there are some benefits you recieve from day 1 that is covered by the warrenty(i.e. rental car if yours is tied up for a warrenty repair) so if you bought a 4 year warrenty for example, it starts day one. If you had your car for 1 year, they sre within the terms of said warrenty to re-imburse you for 3/4 of warrenty price, since 1/4 of time has elapsed...

hmmm interesting. I didn't even know that they did this, so anything I get back is just extra $$ :0
