Paypal selling

Does anyone have a paypal account for selling stuff? I have a paypal account strictly for buying things. Maybe I am just warry, but I don't like the idea of paypal being linked directly to my bank account. Any way arround this? They have something about then holding the funds and requesting them by check (though there is a $1.50 charge for this) and it seems like you can use the funds in your paypal account to pay for things using paypal.

Next question is, somewhere I saw something about a free account and a business account. Very little information other then with a free account you can't use Ebay to sell things. So is the business account free also (it seems like it)?

Anyway, I am curious because I would like to get into selling some things on ebay. Mostly film camera stuff. I've noticed lately looking through the craiglist adds that sometimes there is camera equipment being sold at a significant discount compared to what it would go for on Ebay. My thoughts are, especially for things like cameras, if I can purchase it cheap on Craigslist (so long as it is in working order), go over it and clean it up, replace the light seals, mirror bumpers, etc I could make probably 25-400% more then what I bought it for.

Now its not like I can buy dozens of cameras a month and resell them, but heck even a camera month making $20-125 on each one isn't exactly a bad passtime to have. Especially if I can turn around and funnel the money into my camera hobby.

Re: Paypal selling

i am a verified member of paypal with 27 ratings ...

sold many things on ebay and never once an issue. Once paypal funds come in, it takes about 2-3 business days and the funds are wired directly into my account.

never an issue in the 3+ years i have been using it.

i buy and sell via paypal!

good luck bud

Re: Paypal selling

Yeah, paypal is great. It works as a great middle man for disputes as well. I enjoy using paypal and it's offered on just about every site to transfer money for purchases.

Re: Paypal selling

Only problem I have had with it being directly linked to my bank account was that even though I set it to have my cc as primary source, it still took money from the bank account first and made the balance low enough that when my toll transponder thing renewed, I went negative

Re: Paypal selling

yeah usually when I sell things via paypal and transfer them to my checking account it only takes a day. it's really nice and I prefer to use paypal over anything.

Re: Paypal selling

I don't allow anyone to use money orders, cashiers checks, or personal checks. I do PAYPAL ONLY. It's so much safer than someone trying to fraud you.

Re: Paypal selling

The guy who just bought my rims first sent me a cashier's check... I waited and waited and it never came. But he needed the rims so he paypalled me the $$. It just sucks for him because he had to send the payment twice. He's getting the money back from the check he sent (he cancelled it through his bank) but it might take a little while for him to get it back. paypal FTW

Re: Paypal selling

I also have a paypal account for selling stuff. It doesn't cost anything to my knowledge. I was verified with a rating of 13, but had to switch accounts recently. Works great, would highly recommend it.
