Jiffy Lube Story...

My on Friday girlfriend took her 03' Jetta to J.L. even after I strongly voiced against it... On Saturday night we were going somewhere and she was backing up and I heard a scrapping noice so I got out to take a look and the plastic splash shield is hanging down and all torn up, so I rip it off and we drive to J.L. and they were clsoed because it was so late. So I call them Sunday and they were closed. So today I go to look at the car in the morning and inspect what it wrong.. It looks like they used zip ties to hold it all together becasue none of the screws were there there are (2) splash shields and (1) was completely missing and the other one was damaged beyond reinstalling it... So my GF goes to J.L. today to kick some ass and they tell her Im sorry its not our problem, you probably just hit something.. Now I love my GF to death but once you hit the switch she kicks into BITCH mode and starts up a storm and they still refuse to fix anything saying it was her driving that broke it.. So I called VW and asked them for a quote on the splash shield and was told $250 for everything missing...

Is there anything that can be done here, this is total complete BS!!!

Re: Jiffy Lube Story...

unfortunately, no

it would have probably been a better idea to not "kick into bitch mode" and instead tried to deal with them on more personable terms.

Short of taking them to small claims court (which you could probably win, but not necessarily, and would be a huge waste of your time), you're outta luck.

Re: Jiffy Lube Story...

Talk to the store owner, give their corporate offices a call and lastly small claims court...which again you could probably win. No matter what take pictures to document as much as you can and keep your recipte.

Small claims court isn't exactly a peach, but most states make it pretty easy to manage. Give the county court house a call and ask them about filing a small claims case.

Re: Jiffy Lube Story...

Jiffy lube jacked up my brother's old truck a couple of years back. I can't remember the details but they pretty much told him the same thing they told your GF... it wasn't their problem.

**not on this forum and not unless its in a for sale thread.

yea it sucks that there isn't really a way to prove that they did anything without taking pictures of your car right before and right after they do the work.

I'm just going to take my car to the our sponsor dealership now.

Re: Jiffy Lube Story...

talk in a civilized manner to the branch manager, and ask for cost of the parts and labor per VW.

if the manager refuses, politely ask him to write his name on a piece of paper for you, or his business card, refuse when he tries to offer the name of the guy who did the work.

let him know "i don't need to know that guy's name, you're going to be the one served with the summons, since you're managing that guy. thanks for your time".

that should annoy him enough to pay for it. they hate the idea of taking their own time off to deal with other people's shit.

Re: Jiffy Lube Story...

i have a solution, leave the skid plate off.

i fucking hate changing the oil on jettas.

besides them having 12 plastic screws, and two different skid plates? it's german. so it's crazily engineered (the skidplate)

they put the filters in the most retarded spots.

Went from a brand new 06 Silver Hatch to a Crispy 06 Hatch to a White 06 tC
